Would You consider yourself a "Good Smaritan"?

The Good Samaritan from the Bible was a stranger who helped another, and the term is still in common use when there has been an accident and someone comes forward, unasked,to Assist.. I was listening to part of a radio Phone -in show last night on this subject..discussing people who have gone out of their way to help a stranger, and either been taken advantage of,or SUED for their help! In one case Mentioned,(I think it was a Doctor) had performed an emergency Tracheotomy, saving someone's Life by bypassing an obstruction in the throat that was preventing them Breathing...and because surgery hadn't been asked for, leaving the person with a scar on the throat, they SUED the person who saved their life! It seems some countries support the idea of the "Good Samaritan" in an emergency, and others do not..someone with Paramedic training phoned in to say they had taken out Personal Insurance to protect themselves in the event of taking action in an emergency..they mentioned a Paramedic "On Call" would be covered by insurance as part of the Job,but would Not Be when off duty..My question is..Would You be thinking of the possibility of being sued if you stopped to help someone? Or would it make you hold back in case someone sued you for not doing enough? thanks for responses!

I think that's just wrong, but then again, I saw a gal with 3 little kids walking in the rain (it wasn't real hard, but was supposed to get worse) and gave them a ride home I want to say this was totally out of my way because I had just gotten home when I spotted them, but I felt that it needed doing. Poor little kids were crying they were so tired.

The programme was on an Irish radio station..they apparently then had several calls or texts which seemed to be about the same Woman in this particular area ,who'd beg a lift, saying "It's only up the road a bit",and it wasn't until they were 10 miles or more out of their way in the back of beyond with Her before the driver realised THEY were the one being taken for a ride!
