What Are Some Of Your Greatest Challenges?

With the Economy being the way it is, I am sure there are many of you out there that begin to wonder where the next dime is coming from, or how you are going to pay the House payment, Electric bill, rent, phone bill, doctor bills, buy groceries, and for many of you buy New school clothes and stuff for the kids. For us it is an everyday struggle just like you, and I was wondering what you might have done to overcome?
For me it takes a lot of Prayer and trusting God to see me thru no matter what the situation. Since I have been having a lot of Health issues this yr, it has played big time on my job and having to take time off of work as well as cut into finances for other things as well. It makes many days where I want to just give up and feel like it is not worth it to continue, but thru it all God continues to show me different.
Now it is back to Financial planning and finding other ways to be able to earn a little extra $$. I started doing vendor events selling my Crafts, Candles and Beef Jerky from my Jerky Business to earn some extra $$, and it does help. Even looking into getting a small store front type thing thru the winter to bring in some extra income as well.
Personally I think if more people out there could take more control over their situation and find other ways to bring in some much needed money the whole world would be in a better place for sure. The big businesses were small once, so what could be stopping you from trying?
Just some thoughts I had due to the Economic stressful times.

What a lovely, inspirational lady you are Tina.
There's me feeling sorry for myself (AGAIN) and up you pop with a discussion to make me feel a tad humble, if the truth be known.
Your health problems have been well documented and I'm amazed at how resilient you are. You manage to find positives out of any situation and I like that.
In my case, my health problems need to be sorted before I can find a "proper job" so to speak. However, MyLot has "Saved me" which sounds profound but it's true. Nothing to do with the money (although that does help), it's the friends I've made here that keep me going..and kind people like yourself have also been "sent" in my opinion..bit like a Guardian Angel watching over her brood.

So much Truth spoken here about myLot and what a wonderful place it is for Friends to come together and Inspire one another. Thanks so much as well for the kind words. It brings tears to my eyes knowing you feel this way about me. I know that thru my weakness I become strong. It is thru the help of everyone here and the Faith I have in Jesus Christ to see me thru.

Hi Polly1.
I can't remember what my first discussion was about but I do remember people welcoming me to MyLot and I'd never experienced that ANYWHERE on the internet before..and the fact they were from all over the world is amazing..and it continues to amaze me every day this diverse community of MyLotters.

Hello again KrauseHome! Do you remember me telling you that you are our Guardian Angel?
Well, I was clearing out a drawer that I've been meaning to do for ages (in the bedroom) and you know what I found in a bag full of stuff? MY MISSING WEDDING RING, THAT'S WHAT! I have tears in my eyes because I was convinced it was lost down the toilet or somewhere silly like that. It was during the winter last year that I lost this ring and I was devastated, as you can imagine because we only got married in April 2008. Hubby (only last Saturday in actual fact) was telling me that he wanted to save up for a new wedding ring for me at Christmas. I am numb with shock at my original wedding ring turning up - today of all days. I have absolutely no idea how it got in that bag in the drawer but boy, am I glad it was there. This ring brings back memories of when it was placed on my finger..oh, joy. I'm ecstatic!
By the way, it will be altered so it won't come off ever again!
Love you sooo much!

Well, I am still currently studying right now. So I am not pretty much having much challenges of life like yours now. Most probably my biggest and greatest challenges now is to study hard and graduate as early as possible and repay my parents debts in the future. That's all in my mind right now.

I have always believed where there is a will there is a way. I worked 2 jobs almost all my working life, had to to keep things going since i was alone & raising 2 boys by myself. Hard work never hurt anyone. There are alot of people that need to try it.

For sure... I know things are tight now for everyone, especially those of us who have been Lucky enough to work, etc. but for those who might be laid off struggling to find something maybe they just need to focus on things that they never thought of for work, or invent something to earn some extra $$, and help make themselves more useful for everyone once again.

Times are tough everywhere, that’s true. My husband has a good job but we don’t have any money left each pay day after all the bills have been paid. We rely on bonuses if he gets them for any extra things we may need and that is no always too secure. I work online as much as possible and send article to editors for publication which makes me a little money but not enough! We have a tight budget we have to stick to and going out anywhere is out of the question. I too rely on prayer and hope...

I also do crafts and do sales....and I take special orders. And I enjoy doing them. The only bad part is the loading and unloading of my car. I sometimes hire someone to unload me.....after the sale I don't have much left to load so I can handle that...but I do pretty good at the sales.

I have an interview for a job in a few days. I really hope I get it because for the past however months my husband has been the only one working and we just aren't bringing in a lot of money. We have enough but we aren't able to save money. We are now considering a place of our own, but of course won't officially start looking looking until I get a job. Now a days it seems it takes a lot for a little. We have to consider where to find a place. My husband and I are not very fond of the county I grew up in but are considering residence there. We don't want to be too far from where we are living now but that only leaves us so many options. A lot of good ones, but as that goes that also means we have to spend more money. We could get a house and pay electric, water, cable.. all those bills or we could get an apartment where usually some utilities are included, that is one thing we are considering but one option we thought of seems to not be available (the apartment is no longer shown online which makes em think no more vacancies).. it was a great price for an older apartment too. A newer one with not too bad of a price and closer to hubby's work is another option I am going to discuss with my husband when he gets home.
I'm more eager to look though I have to wait for the chickens to hatch their eggs!

One of the things I think we need to get back to is not replacing but rather repairing. As long as we have so many out of work, we must review our throw away habbits. Of course this also slows spending but people out of work can't spend much no matter how good the deal is.

Hi there KrauseHome
I really do feel for you and can only hope that things get easier for you really soon.
I too am struggling a bit money. Luckily I bought a lot of gifts through out the year for Christmas so I now only have the more expensive ones to get, my kids and my mum's. I also have some other outgoings due to paid around this time of year, namely keeping the car on the road, kids school trips and supporting them with their activities.
At the moment I am trying to sell some things on ebay and so far that is working out well and am able to buy one of the kids gifts so far so I will keep going with it and hopefully that will pay for things that way. I would love to make things and sell them on ebay but I don't have any idea what to make that wouldn't take too much money to make or time and would of course sell well.
Good luck with your finances

I believe that financial stability is a great challenge that all of us can share in. Also, raising children in today's society can be one as well. Life is full of great challenges. Some of them we welcome and some of them we do not. @BOROTOTOY (58)

Lack of success:
Didn't get enough students when I was in tutoring and I tried for years, then during this recession, no one called me at all. I went from 1 student to none.
Baking for a Farmer's Market. I spemt $300 with ingredients, gas, and both fees as well as a popup and took in $300. So I broke even.
The tutoring helped a little bit. The baking didn't.I had to keep putting money in that I just got to keep going.
Driving someone to Dr. appts that can't drive is helping me make money right now. I did some house cleaning for awhile, but the people couldn't pay me any more, so I stopped doing that. Taking care of things when my friends are away for them like their house, animals, kids, whatever. I've made money doing that this year.
One year I made money weedingt. Burt the next year, that farm didn't go.
So I keep trying different things and different years, different things work and other years, things don't. But nothing continuous for me, just spiratic.
