Growing up my mom only had the electric ones. But last year I ran across one new @ Salvation Army for the stove top with the lid and teflon in perfect shape.
So seeing it's seen quite a bit of use I'm thinking I'd like to upgrade to something better maybe even a lil bigger (not restaurant big but family of 5 big). And I figured someone would have a suggestion as what the best handle shape is? is the 14in or 16in just the diameter on the bottom of the pan not the top? And is a wok ring necessary on a gas stove? or does it help the flame to cook the food more evenly? What looks good to you folks out of the choices on here? http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=wok&x=0&y=0

I bought my wok at IKEA. I never cooked with one before, so I just bought a pretty cheap one. We too have a family of 5, however some are picky eaters and they don't really like stir fry. The handle isn't that big which is good for me as I felt the larger handles would be harder to handle (heavier). I like ours, we use it often. We have an electric stove, so I don't know if you need any special ring for a gas stove. My daughter even cooks scrammed eggs with it (lol).

I have a picky eater too! So I usually just skip the item or so she won't eat cook it, take hers out and then add the veggies she won't eat.
No IKEA's here I'm afraid either, though I've heard many people complain why we don't have one here.

No IKEA??? I would cry!!! Or move...lol The closest IKEA to me is down in Atlanta about 2 hours away, but it is worth the trip for me. People either love IKEA or hate it, go figure! That is the way I have to cook food for my picky eaters..adding vegtables for some, taking out for others, and quite frankly it is a pain. When I was little, if you didn't like certain things in the food you either sucked it up and ate it, or you picked the stuff you didn't like out. These kids today are so spoiled.

My closest would be 73 miles away, or I could go to the other one that's over 300 miles away. Though but the way life is I don't drive much outside of a couple mile radious of the house.
