Are you a Fan Girl/Boy?

Hey, fellow myLotters! I'm sure each of us are a fan of something or someone. And each of us have his/her own way of showing our love for our idols. Sometimes, people don't actually understand it and say we are weird to be so all over something/someone like anime, comic books, idols, actors, actresses, models etc... It is true, however, that there are just some who, I may say, become overboard and go beyond the line and become stalkers that frightens the idols etc themselves. And well, knowing about these sort of people somehow scares me too, even if we follow and look up to the same people/person/hobby. And sometimes it's ridiculously funny too. As a FAN do you know the limits of idolizing your idol? What are those? Or would you do anything to just get their attention, or get a piece of them? Oh yeah, are you the kind of fan who would become overly protective that you'd hate any person linked to your idol and bash them, become close minded? I know my limits, I know the possibility of me actually meeting them is low and whatever pleases them makes me happy too and I will support them. My idols are there to cheer me up when no one is there and I need instant relief and fun.

Well as an anime fan, of course I collect anime stuffs. I know my limits but sometimes I get affected if my friend is like putting down my favorite character. Yes I know that we own have our favorite anime characters but sometimes I'm so into them that I will really make stand for them to be the best lol... But I only argue with my friends though - just friendly argument and it's more like they're just teasing me.

What you are describing sounds more like an Avid Fan. Fan Boy or Fan Girl is generally the common term for a canon fan. I run in Fandom circles (meta discussion, fanfic, fanart, shippers, etc) and we generally use the term Fan Boy/Fan Girl in reference to those that debate canon or merits of one character or specific canon over others. Shipper Wars are generally the biggest source of fandom wank between them. Any good Fan Boy/Fan Girl knows that Flame is to be used to roast Marshmallows. Those that give Flame are the ones who get the nutter/close-minded label.

waaah~ I'd sound like a newbie but it makes sense. I've been to fandom circles as well but people have been either calling fans - fan girls/boys or crazy fan girls/boys but mostly crazy fan girls, so i thought the line between isn't that thick. this is a first for me that there is a distinct difference in them. thank you.

I am a fan of my favorite band and singer. I would have all their CD's from the U.S. to even Japan. Even if the CD's have the same songs on it. I also have posters of them on my wall and spend my time on their official forum. I even write fan fiction of them. Of course I would love to meet my favorite band and singer in one of the fan meetings they do, but they are always across the state and the time they have a fan meeting, I have school. I would also love to go to their concert, but haven't since they haven't sang a concert in my state. I know there are crazy fans who would stalk their idols, but I really wouldn't go that far. As long I can listen to my idol's songs, I would be happy enough.

hmmm... i've seen some similarities in our situation and our views. although i've only have one CD from my idols since money is an issue for me. hopefully, next year i'd be able to go to my idols' concert.
