Dragged out of dancing..

Have you experienced being invited to a dance intermission number and were advised to leave because you have a hard time catching up with others? You see, I like dancing even though I was sleeping when that talent rained down on earth. (Which means I am nowhere near 'good' at it) But when I was invited by a friend, I eagerly accepted. And I practiced every meeting with them without missing one day at all. Unfortunately, I cannot move swag nor popping steps like our leader does and it seems that I am the worst among the team. Although I am not slow at picking up the steps, it seemed to the leader that I am not dancing with 'feelings' at all. And my steps doesn't fit in the other's moves since I look so bouncy and untimely. If the leader can't find me fitting, then she have to place me at the back, and worse I'm short, it would be obvious for the audience that I am not a good dancer. Since the leader can't decide on the formation until she is certain that I am still in the group or not, I left to remove that burden. It's also exam week and I said I'll focus on studies, so I managed to use that as an excuse even though I have studied a week in advance. All I need is some review so that excuse is not true. I am somewhat hurt. I have willingly entered the group not forced into it so it feels embarrassing to suddenly drop out. But in some way I understand I have negative 100 talent in dancing and I would look stupid if I danced.. What should I do?

Well at least you tried to do what you like oxyde. Unlike me, i like to dance but since i am not good at it i prefer to dance in my room alone or sometimes with a friend or two who like to dance but is too shy to show to others. Everytime officemates asked me to join the group on our participation if there are events in the office i always have excuses that i dont know how to dance and that i would only join if my boss did LOL. Just keep on practicing. Like what other people said practice makes perfect. Get some DVD's or CD's or even download some dance videos on the net and do it in your room first. Just keep on practicing and someday you will be able to catch up with others. Cheer up and Good luck

Thank you so much Bluerain25, it makes me feel better to be cheered on. But I have less than ten days to practice and I already backed out so I'll just hope there are similar opportunities that has less expectation and more fun. I laughed so loud when I read that you would only join if your boss did xD Thanks again!! I really appreciate kind and warm responses when I am troubled.
