No Pay For Our Soldiers? Why can we give Afghan troops $6 Billion?

I don’t believe this. I just saw on the news that the Department of Defense can’t even pay our troops. They owe back pay and bonuses to our soldiers, the ones risking their lives for us every single day. What makes this even worse, I just looked at the newspaper, and it says that in 2011, after we pull our combat troops out of Afghanistan, we will spend SIX BILLION dollars a year to train and support the Afghan troops. How does that make any sense? Our troops should come first, not theirs. This country can’t even take care of itself, but we have to support the rest of the world. I don’t understand this at all.

It is wrong. The soldiers in America should get a decent wage and their back pay. And Afghanistan is still a wild country. Oh did you mean Iraq when you wrote about after 2011, etc.? Because if you did, the troops that remain in Iraq would still be in danger. But getting back to the subject, the troops at home should be supported first and not those of another country. It is all right to support them when the army at home is given their fair share of financial support, but not like what is going on.

The article said Afghanistan. I agree with you. It is one thing to help somene else, but we have to take care of our own troops first.

I don't understand it either. I hadn't heard this one but it would not surprise me. Our country is in a recession and people here are struggling and losing their homes etc. Still we send billions of dollars to help Pakistan in flood relief. Our government also gives loans to them so that they can buy out our convenience stores, fire people that work there and hire their own people. They only have 2% interest rate on the payback. I don't understand it.

They don't take care of the troops while they are in combat. They don't take care of them properly when they are waiting to go over. They don't take care of the vets once they get out. They just use them up. We are becoming a Nation of Veterans. Men and Women who have seen all kinds of horrors, who are broken inside and out, that have just been thrown away. Some do OK when they get home, but many do not... Shalom~Adoniah

Our troops should come first, and they should be compensated for what they do, no money could truly compensate them but money is a necessity in life and one that the Troops and their families deserve. We should not be helping the Aghan Troops UNTIL AFTER We help our own troops, until after we pull ourselves out of a bind. Not to mention the national debt we're accruing. I suppose we should buckle our seat belts and get ready because we're going to probably have a bumpy economy for years to come. I've also heard our military's are being trained with Yoga.. I am sorry that is okay and all but they need endurance training as well.
