What things have you had to replace because you can't find refills, parts, etc.?

Do you ever sometimes wonder why manufacturers think that they need to keep on modifying their products constantly? I just had to purchase a brand new mop because the manufactures stopped making the mop head refills that I needed. It is so frustrating when you have a product that you like and have to get something new just because someone decided to invent yet another product. We have landfills and dumps full of things cast off because the manufacturers would rather focus on the new rather than on making things last. What things have you had to replace recently because of the lack of replacement parts, refills, batteries to fit, etc.?

You have a valid point to make. However, I feel that manufacturers keep improving and changing, because there is a group of customers, who keep asking, what is new for them. When they manufacture new models, they discard the old ones and after few years do not even manufacture spare parts of the old models. We have to adjust as per their whims and fancies, what a pity!

Ah, you are right, they do like to improve and change things because some customers always want to purchase something new and different... The supply matches the demand... I guess well do have to adjust... whine, complain, grin.. Thanks for posting... I appreciate it. I am hoping that all is going well with you these days.

There have been quite a few but the one affected us the most was our boiler. The inlet and outlet pipes that were connected to the old boiler did not fit into the new boiler which we wanted to install. We had to change the pipes but since they were concealed some compromise needed to be made in that we do not get hot water in the shower that is on the ground floor but in the upstairs bathroom we were able to do it without compromising on the aesthetics.

Books used at schools. You always have to buy the new ones even if you use the same book. Publishers change some of the pages of the book and republish it under the name "New .... " and all students and the teachers have to buy the new book. Because publishers think if they do this way they will sell more. If they don't do this old students will lend their books to new students and they will sell less.

Ah, that need to replace books is no fun. Books on line are good replacements for this as is renting, sharing texts, etc. There are teachers who understand about the expense of the books who will tolerate these things. Thanks for posting. Good luck in school.
