Hello guys, I am planning to go to Singapore for me to have a tour and look for a job as well. I know that it is wrong for me to find a job with a tourist VISA but then I will have to take my chances. I have at least $1,500 Singapore Dollars with me and please tell me how will I survive a month with that kind of pocket money. I will also look for a call center job there. Yes I have some friends and former High School classmates there now who are working but I will just visit them and have some bonding moments. But that's it. I don't want them to think that I am just using them for me to thrive in that country. Advices are all acceptable. Thank you in advance!

Hi, Singapore is a great place for employment and also a shopping paradise. Since you are travelling to Singapore by plane, you will be able to get 30 days visa and with your friends around, at least you can save money for accomodation which is definitely not cheap in Singapore. As for the transportation and meal, you can easily get food at hawker centre at every neighbourhood and the price is not that expensive, still cheaper than you were to go restaurant for food. As for transportation, bus and MRT Train are available for wholeday. So pretty convenience.of course, avoid taking cabs,it is costly. Now, you can started to apply for some jobs available in Singapore online. Since your interest is at call centre, there are few banks whereby you can submit your resume online at their respective bank website. Do check it out like OCBC BANK,DBS BANK, standard Chartered bank,Maybank. I was with OCBC and DBS Bank, working at their call centre section before I left this beautiful country of Singapore. I was in Singapore for the past 9 years for my degree course and work there after I graduated. The standard of living in Singapore is pretty high and everything is money concerned. With SGD$1500 in hand, you should be able to survive well in Singapore for about a month provided no shopping(just window shopping) and eat at hawker centre. Has you informed your friends that you will go to Singapore and stay with them? It is best to let them know earlier and do buy some gifts from your hometown for them,as least, they allow you to stay at their place which has save your accomodation. The best newspaper to look for job in Singapore is THE STRAITS TIMES,they have plenty of vacancies from different companies. Of course, Singapore also have plenty of employment agencies, but with your VISA status, they may not be able to help you up as they are majority for PR holder and Singaporean. Lastly, I wish you good luck in your job hunting!!

Hello. I have been to Singapore a few times. Very nice country to live and to work. There can be excellent job opportunities, I am sure. There are many foreigners working there. The cost of living may be a bit high, but your friend there could certainly give you the best advices about that. Best of luck to you !

Do the math first. I heard from a colleague that it's a very expensive place. half of your salary (if you get hired) would already be gone for your boarding house. Noodles are expensive also so better bring lots of them when you go on vacation.

You can work in Singapore legally as long as you have the qualification. Please get some information on that. I don't know the site which offer the chance to work at Singapore but my brother had ever told me that he tried to apply through internet. Unfortunately he didn't pass the qualification needed.

Hi dear, Happy to see you back after a short break. Also, so happy to know hear that you are planning to visit Singapore. As I am having not much experience with this travel to Singapore, I am not a person to comment on it. However, as you said, with your limited conveyance, I think you will manage a nice and wonderful experience over there. I think getting a job over there is not an issue, as some of your fiends are already there. Take care and all the best. Also, keep in touch with myLot and your friends too. Regards, Thank-s

Check out the website mom.gov to find out if you qualify. Also, they prefer ones with experience. Don't forget your latest paycheck too coz you'll need that. Better inform your friends that you'll be staying with them ahead of time. It's better than surprising them. Also, it will help to get their address and contact number ahead of time. It's one of the questions the consul may ask you. Good luck!
