Channel Preference...

The two most known local channel are ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7.
These two have been around for decades. I don't usually watch television so I wonder which is better.
I prefer watching ABS-CBN 2 because I like some funny shows, like Twist & Shout but that's all about it. I also find TV Patrol more objective in reporting however it feels like it lacks a few disclosures.
GMA 7 has a stronger signal to the television's antenna (we don't have cable anymore since we enjoy the internet more now lol) but their news usually annoys me with their accent and exaggeration.
So now I wonder.. Which channel do you prefer watching? And why?

There are things that I like and dislike about that channel but more likely I am watching ABS-CBN 2
The things I like and dislike with ABS CBN 2
Likes
1. As you said reports are more objective and it is comprehensive as well
2. They have comprehensive drama series which is not traditional and old fashion. In other terms it is modern and creative. In the sense that the script writing and the vocabulary they are using are most likely very sensible. Good example there is the May Bukas Pa and Magkaribal. Other than that it is not redundant.
3. Their graphics is more creative.
4. They don't turn their world into only one celebrity. Many of them is becoming popular from time to time. In other terms as much as possible they are giving exposures to many performers.
5. The performers are well trained even the new artists. That is why if you are watching their series it is not so awkward to look.
6. Fans of this channel are not that sensitive and they are not lame and over reacting when defending the network and its performers. As what I have read in forums.
Dislikes
1. They are bias in many aspects. For example in Pinoy Big Brother they have favoritisms to the extent that a their favorite housemate will be part of big four.
2. Obviously politics, if not manipulating the votes but doing something to have the high votes to a housemate.
The things I like and dislike with GMA 7
Likes
1. They were able to settle the comedy show like Bubble Gang
2. The reality show is more objective that obviously they will be a talent or performers of that network.
Dislikes Obviously this is just an opposite of what I like in ABS CBN 2
1. As you said that their news annoys me with their accent and exaggeration, other than that they are always projecting their network that much.
2. Their drama series are old fashion, the scenes and episodes are redundant for the sake of prolonging the show. Script writing, story line and vocabulary are lame, that was used long time ago and yet over acting. In other terms it is boring.
3. The effects are not good.
4. Giving too much exposure with only one actress, she has her looks but not a good role model. Whereas they already have the starstruck talents.
5. I am not satisfied with the artist's performances on how they sing and act. Sometimes I find it like they were just acting in classroom role playing.
6. Fans of this channel tend to over react as what I have read in forums. To the extent that they are becoming fanatics or acting like a cult, that they can't be sensible enough in giving rebuttals.
But in fairness to the fans club of Steven Silva that I've attended they were just civil and matured enough in the sense that you would feel you are welcome with them.
But BOTH OF NETWORKS ARE....
1. Imitating the shows to each other
2. I forgot
but I will write it later

I wonder where my comment went. I remember on responding to this. I've been gone for almost a week being busy at school, I forgot what I said.
But I'm sure I said that:
You are absolutely right about both networks: They IMITATE each other. And that's just, I can't think of the right word..wrong? People would have to choose from the same category whether they like it or not. Telenovela...korean drama...anime... It makes things bland and too competitive. Actually, internet became more fun and interesting than television.
Thanks again Metatronik for a well-written response. (Or should I say well-typed? ^_^)

Like you said, GMA 7 has a stronger signal than ABS-CBN 2 so that leaves us with no choice but to watch shows from GMA. We hardly watch channel 2 shows because the shows come out snowy in our TV. We do not have cable TV because we chose to have internet access than to watch TV. Because it has a better signal, it has become a habit for us to watch GMA shows than ABS-CBN shows.

Ah, that also sometimes goes for us too, we also have ABS-CBN 2 distorted. We also sacrificed cable tv for internet and I have no regrets.
But if you were able to watch both channels clearly, would you prefer ABS-CBN 2?

I tried to watch Magkaribal but then the poor signal continues to be a constraint so I gave up following the TV series. GMA's signal quality has forced a habit to watch it's shows instead of channel 2 shows. Signal quality dictated upon my preference. I hardly know any shows on 2 so I can not say if I will prefer it over 7.

Oh...I guess that'll be hard to compare them if you can't see them both ".) I wonder why ABS-CBN have poor signal when the channel station is not poor for it not to improve them.. .

I also admire the unbiased comments, news reports etc. GMA has compare to ABS-CBN. I actually dislike the biased judgement and reports ABS-CBN has, like PBB voting for winners seemed controlled as well as some news are not reported clearly and are not usually specific.

I have been a fan of ABS for a few years then I switched to GMA. Then now I don't own a TV so I don't watch tv now. But one thing I would like to share is that sometimes there are shows that I want to watch in both networks.
For ABS CBN, I like magkaribal, SOCO and Bandila.
For GMA I missed watching Maynila, Imbestigador and Jessica sojo.
How about you? do you have personal preferences regarding shows and just about the networks?

I like Rubi, Magkaribal, etc..but I don't get to watch them always since I have night classes. As for GMA, I like their objectivity but they're too overacting on matters of little importance in their news reporting and TV series. A particular example would be giving news of some holdup case which only affected the local area and not the whole country. I mean, GMA needs to focus on what the whole country would be concerned. Ofcourse it is impossible for the whole country to 'absolutely' be concerned but the whole country will not be greatly concerned by some local holdup case that happens almost every day in different places.

Thanks a lot for appreciating my post.
