First day of school 2010

By now, September 10, all of your kids should be back at school (finally). How did their first day go? Any funny or memorable moments? Because of budget cuts, our district had to cut down on the number of school buses and bus stops, and that caused quite a bit of chaos our first day (and our second day, and our third day. . .)! The first day, the bus driver came late and stopped in the wrong place, so we all had to run down the street (these are all kindergartners through 3rd graders and their parents). Then the bus was an hour late dropping them off, so ten or so parents were stuck at the bus stop with cameras for an hour! (Luckily we thought to bring snacks). The second day, the bus came 10 minutes early, and we all missed the bus and had to drive our kids to school. It was 45 minutes late coming home, and one child who was supposed to be on it, wasn't (not mine, thank goodness). Needless to say, her dad was a little stressed out, but he found her at the school. She forgot which bus she was supposed to get on, so didn't get on any (luckily). Today is the third day--we had yesterday off for Rosh Hashana. The bus came 15 minutes early today, but waited for all of us this time. We'll see what time it shows up this afternoon! The kids are having a ton of fun with all this confusion--so at least they are enjoying their first week!
