Remember when we were kids how serious we always would take friendship? We would swear we would be friends forever. To me a friend is someone who always supports you, even if they think you are wrong. They always tell you the truth even if they think you don't want to hear it and they never intrude on a relationship with a partner. So many times I hear now of someone cheating with their friends partner. I have never understood that! To me if you were friends with someone you just didn't do that. I always felt that my friends partner was off limits even after they broke up. But so many of my friends tell me that their ex has picked up with their friend, sometimes that is the reason they break up. Am I just being old fashioned, or does this not seem like a crappy thing to do? What do you think?

Wordjunkie, those are what you call a friend.
Pardon my humour: if you were really friends, you are expected to share everything in common including your partners? Am I wrong? But you used to even share trousers, panties, shoes, lipstick, etc. If your boyfriend kissed the lipstick on you, it only becomes natural that he wants to kiss/taste it on your friend.
There are no real extremity in friendship. To me, you were my friend upto yesterday but between then and now, you may have changed. The brotherhood and sisterhood of Judas may have crept in. But it is not only friends that elope with partners; blood sisters and even mothers do execute this trait. The same applies to males.
If you conclude that 'a friend ...always supports you...' then going with your partner can also be seen as some form of support. Intrude in a relationship? If you are in a relationship, say marriage, and your friend is there, then an intrusion exists. You do not know what happens behind your back till there is a breakdown in communication somehow.
There was a lady with the most trusted friend whom she grew up with. She got married while the friend (Gloria, not real name) was still searching. She never knew the husband has been sleeping with her friend till one day, as she was in bed with the husband copulating, at the peak, he was calling Gloria, Gloria, Hold me..... She didn't know what went wrong; she thought it was hallucination till one day she caught them in a compromising position. The rest is part of history.
That was a loyal friend.
