I have a friend who is pretty crunchy. She was on the bandwagon of how this shampoo has this or that toxin in it and so forth. I informed her if my kids are going to dump half a bottle of shampoo in the tub to make bubble bath WHY oh WHY would I buy my old brand (before kids) or an organic brand???? And yes before someone says put it up, it is put up they get into EVERYTHING! Someday I'll get my favorite shampoo back if I recall what it even is by then or the smell *LOL*

My grandson used to use the shampoo for bubbles too so I got him the Avon bubble bath. I only buy them when they are on sale for a couple dollars. He loves them and has stopped using my shampoo for his various experiments in the bath tub! I make them a special treat for him so that he apperciates getting them, eg for birthday, good behavior reward (lots of those), christmas, good report, whatever works. So he doesnt waste them and is inclined to do something special to earn his bubble baths! Occasionally if he runs out he will ask if he can use the shampoo and depending on the type that I have I might allow him to use it, If its too expensive he gets dove or Palmolive dishwashing liquid. he much prefers his Avon bubbles though.

That I suppose you could say is one of the problems they don't appreciate having the things they have and not just in regards to bubbles KWIM? I wasn't that way as a kid I cherished every lil thing I could call "MINE". I used to make the birthday cake my mom bought me every year last a good two weeks by taking a nibble at a time. My kids on the other hand would just inhale something like that & I'd turn around and the first thing that I'd probably say is "did you leave any for anyone else?"

Your cake lasted 2 weeks! Wow that is definately will power! My mother used to bake novelty cakes and would forbid us from even tasting it. we used to sneak bits from the back where she couldn't see. I remember she baked a treasure chest once. The cake was there on display until it spoiled. We were so upset. Mind you we had sneaked some of the candy so it wasn't a total loss!

Too funny but not really.
I remember my daughter use to grab all the lotions in site and splatter it everywhere. It drove me nuts. No matter where I hid it she would always find it and make a great deal of mess.
As for organic versus regular. It is a matter of preference and I do not find that organic shampoo for my long mop of hair I have which is down my back down to my waist appreciates them at all.
I tried them once and it made my head feel heavy as my hair felt crunchy and itching. I can appreciate people being concerned about toxins and chemical free products, but when it comes to my head and hair and organic shampoos they just do not get along. So my head and hair dictate in the respect.

EEK! I bet that was no fun cleaning up especially if it got onto something that could absorb the oils from the lotion.
I've never tried organic shampoo myself, can't afford organic didly squat. Sad that life has come to being able to afford such luxuries as organic to stay away from such toxins. But as they say if it doesn't kill ya it only makes you stronger...

I do not get it either. Here in Illinois a regular Gallon of milk is $2.99. Organic milk on sale by the way is $10.99.
I drink regular and am so happy when it goes on sale for $1.99.

Hey, it's your house, and your system works for you. Personally, I'd get the kids the cheap stuff, and hide mine and only bring it out when I use it, but if you're happy with the way you do things, keep on trucking!

Trust me I have to hide the cheap stuff!!! I don't have enough room to stash the good brand nor afford it now days. The luxuries of working full time are behind me for a few more years yet.

Heh. I don't really understand how people who are all organic and crunchy can afford it. I typically don't even buy the salon formula shampoos or conditioners because of the cost, I try to find lower cost ones that have the same ingreds so I can get the same effect without paying $47 for a bottle of shampoo
My daughter really isn't a shampoo dumper, but she does sometimes use too much. I keep all my shampoo, conditioners, body wash, and the like IN the shower. If I were worried about people spilling, dumping, or wasting it, I would put it in a locked cabinet in the bathroom lol.
What type of shampoo did you love, btw? I like the bedhead stuff, but that's the stuff I don't buy right now.

I actually have it on a shelf that's 6ft off the ground in the bathroom unless one of us forgets to put it up. But typically my 8yo can find a way to climb up there to my dismay.
I don't understand how she can afford it either. She hollers that they are broke but yet she buys so many organic things like soaps especially... how can she afford to continue unless it's detrimental to her health (allergy wise). I'm broke beyond belief but I rarely buy organic unless it's similar price to the "regular" or popular "national" brands for pricing.
I miss my Finesse shampoo. It's not expensive I think about $3-4 a bottle, but that's 3-4 bottles of the cheap stuff I can buy instead.

Hey, I'm not the only person that isn't able to enjoy my favorite shampoo anymore on account of having children. I'm really glad to know that I'm not alone there. Well, my son especially is notorious for wasting shampoo, I would guess that he has wasted more almost full bottles of shampoo than we have actually been able to use since he was born. That said, I will typically buy the cheapest shampoos that I can buy because I really don't like to throw my money out the window.

You are truly not alone on this one my dear! The hard part is explaining that the shampoo & groceries don't magically appear one has to work to earn money to buy it. Though if you think about it, you are throwing money down a drain as a matter of just how you use the product *LOL*

for me it's Johnsons's no-tears shampoo.. but really it doesn't matter what brand of shampoo or whether it's cheap, as long as it doesn't give your kids rashes or anything. no need to go for the best kid's shampoo but most expensive.

They use the no-tears formula on their hair if they can restrain themselves otherwise they use that as well in the tub. I dunno they love their bubbles too too much!

You sound like my Hubby when we were discussing not having any more kids.... we can look fwd to being Grandparents! It will be an eternity at this rate to get my old shampoo back organic or not.... but still more than that .99 or less special.

I was using organic shampoo for a long time and then they apparently make some changes or my hair changed, one or the other. I found my scalp itching and flaky and my hair didn't feel clean. Nothing I did made it better so I went back to using Pantene and my hair and scalp felt great.
Doesn't your friend have children? I remember using Breck shampoo in my bath as a kid, it smelled so good and I loved the elegant glass bottle--we didn't have many plastics back then! It's a wonder I never dropped it, in fact I don't remember anyone ever dropping too many of all those glass bottles that contained out drinks, personal hygiene items and other things! Anyway, kids will be kids--get your shampoo at the dollar store!

Yep she has kids. I know she uses the items between being crunchy and she has allergies. I usually buy shampoo @ the grocery store when the have the v05 or white rain for under $1 and stock up (provided I have the money to spare).

hi 3SnuggleBunnies I have used Herbal essence shampoo and conditioner for years but then I do not have any small kids. Yes there you have
to go with the cheaper brands for the kids.I tried an organic brand once and my scalp and even my face broke out in hives so natural is not always better. I took the bottle back to Whole foods and got my money back. I went back to Herbal essences again and had no problems with scalp; or face either one.

Now if you read Hardworking's response you two had a similar reacation to organic shampoo. Perhaps there are some things better left "toxic" than organic for our body to tolerate it's use.

Hi, 3SnuggleBunnies. I hope that you will get your favorite shampoo back again. I have to use only one type of shampoo on my hair too. I can't switch back and forth using different kinds of shampoo. Your friend has to understand that using a shampoo that has toxins in it can be bad for ones health, scalp and hair.

I know it's bad she's advising me of such things. Alas I can't afford organic shampoo as it is, then you toss in a few kids that enjoy their bubbles way too much. Sadly to live organically it costs double to triple what non-organic products cost and when you just barely have the money for the "toxic" items as it is then what do you do?

I've done that before and yes they've wasted a whole bottle of dish soap in the tub as well. I don't mind if there's only a lil bit at the bottom, fine use it.... but more than that they are in trouble!

Thats too funny I thought I was the only one that had that problem. I will buy a bottle of shampoo use it once go to work and when I come back home 8 hours later the whole bottle of shampoo is gone. When I ask about it I am informed that my daughter took a bath. LOL. I then ask what kind of bath did she take and why would she wash her hair a million times. That's when Daddy informs me that she wanted a bubble bath and that the bubbles did not last long enough to make her happy so they had to add more to make more bubbles. So like you I buy what ever is the cheapest and hope for the day that I will once again get to use the good shampoo. I have tried to buy my self a bottle that is just for me but then I get told that mine works better lol. Its a no win in my house. So if you cant beat them join them is what I always say.
I think I am gonna take a bubble bath.

*LOL* Glad it's not just me! And no one has posted yet about putting it up, as it's on a 6ft high shelf but my 7yo grabs a few things stacks them up and reaches them when your occupied. I've contimplaited tossing out the kitchen chairs because of them getting into everything.
Plus bubble bath isn't good for lady parts! I have started hiding my stashes of shampoo or putting the baby locks on that they can't muster open in the bathroom that also houses chemicals and other cleaners I don't need them fooling with.
