I actually think he was suited as the head coach of Argentina. At the international level you need a figure head and he is a great one at that having won the world cup on his own and reaching one more final. But what the Argentinian board needed to give him was a second who could have been technically astute some one like Joachim Loew under Klinsmann.
I think that was the difference between success and failure for Argentina.

I think he was the best player in the world when he played, but he is not smart enough to be a coach. I am sorry if this sounds mean, but this is the way I see it. Not all players make good coaches, and Maradona certainly does not!
