After September 11th...

United States

I made it a point to be more friendly to my fellow Americans who happen to be Muslim! I remember that there was a young woman who would wait at the bus stop with me and I would say hello and she would say hello back. These days here in Northern VA, I can't go out without seeing women with their heads covered, of every color! I don't give it a second thought. So if the terriorist Wanted me to fear Muslims,Well, They failed! The opposite has happened! Your thoughts.

I am a Muslim, and I am not a terrorist. Terrorists only person who spoke on behalf of Islam. Islam never teaches violence. I as a Muslim, hates terrorists, I strongly condemn the terrorist. I am very disappointed with the terrorists. Terrorists bringing a bad name for Islam. I really hope there are no terrorists on behalf of Islam.

Yes, very sad, people regarded Islam as a terrorist. I hope there is no such presumption. Ramadan has ended, and I run it well. I hope this Ramadan brings me become a better person, and my worship, acceptable to God.

Sarah, Thank you for bringing the right thought in these days where Muslims are always blamed. We are Muslims, we are humans with flesh and mind as others as well. There were a lot of incidents happened worse than 9/11 as well, though 9/11 got more attention. Still nobody knows who did the 9/11, rather many assume it was Muslims. And in the name of 9/11 and Osama bin laden many countries innocent people has been attacked. Why most of people not sobbing for this? Apart from all these 9/11 caused a lot of people to think and learn about Islam and Muslims and lots and lots of people are accepting and choosing Islam as a way of their life, mainly from USA, Canda, UK, Germany, France, etc. So all the blame caused to put Islam's name in trouble though ... many accepted Islam for the same reason. May Almighty God guide us all to the right path. "When truth hurls against falsehood, falsehood perishes, by nature falsehood is bound to perish" (Quran) Peace.

I was young when 9/11 happened but I remember that after it the only thing I was scared of was that a plane would crash into my apartment building. Whenever I would hear planes fly above I would get really anxious and not go to sleep until they passed by. I never gave it much thought about the Muslims. I don't lump a whole religion or ethnicity because of what a few of them did. As an American and as a New Yorker I am not terrorized by what happened. That's what they wanted to do to us but they have failed because as Americans we can all hold hands together and know that we are stronger because of this.

Plus we have the shortest attention spans on the planet. Sadly if you didn't live near NY, the Pentagon or Near Boston , or you didn't lose someone in 911, you may just see it as a regular day.Plus most of us don't blame the whole group because of the actions of a$$holes.I hope the sound of a plane doesn't bother you nowadays.take Care.

You have taken the right attitude.Muslims in general are like all of us, people who want to get on with their lives, starting a family, earning to support it.Its just a fanatical few who are doing the most damage to their religion by indulging in insane acts.If you see its the the people from the same religion who are killing their own people and followers of their own religion.See whats happening in Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. This is plain madness. We should all live like brothers and sisters and friends. So the best thing is to live without fear and be friendly to whomsoever you come in touch.

Great post! I didn't look at it That way!Islam isn't the only religion that would kill a follower because they are not " A True..." Remember reading about The Spanish Inquisition? Every religion seems to go through this self destructive stage. Islam is younger than Christianity. Let's hope this phrase ends quickly

I was just watching 102 minutes that changed the world yesterday, and I did see the initial reaction of the people being interviewed on the streets of New York. It was of anger and wanting for revenge. I could understand that being in the moment. But like you, I've also made an effort to know more about the Muslim faith after that day. And I've grown to realize that the people and the religion is of, and for peace. It's just that like everything else, there are some who give them a bad name.

Funny, I thought 911 Was a revenge move. The problem? I didn't know what they were avenging.911 didn't make me look into Islam.I Knew All religions preach peace within and without. I got to learn more about Islam by asking my Muslim friends. It was cool, interesting how similar Islam is to Judaism. It is sad that the diffrences is keeping many apart.

yes, i think its a right way to the terrorist .but we should consider it in another way. why terrorist problem happen so often ? why not we do something to reduce the terrorist ?we just could resolve the terrorist from the apparently ,instead we cannot deal with it in a good way. every coin has two sides , so we should pay more attention to deal with it but not to kill more people or do sth wrong for this.

Were I live there is not alot of Muslims. I have not seen any Muslim women around. I sure they are around. I just have not seen any. I do kow there is one student at the college I work at that is Muslim and he just got done with Ramadan. I don't fear Muslims. I never have and never will. I think the media and others are trying to get use to fear them. Especailly the fundamentalist Muslims. I don't let this bother me. I have other stuff to worry about! It is interesting that that city I live in the Muslims want to build a Mosque which is similar to the situation near Ground Zero. Right now it is also up for debate. I think this ok,in my city. We have all types of Christian churchs and a few synagogues! The Mosque would fit right in!

hello.... thats a good thing that 9/11 didnt changed your view towards muslims.... as barack obama said that we are fighting against terrorism not against islam or moslems .....so we should behave with muslem people as normal....they are not terrorist...sometimes i also gets angry on muslems due to their activities but i realized later that they were not muslims they were terrorists who were misusing name of islam.... i think they are just jealous on hindus and christians thats why they are doing this.... they dont have basic things n their life like roads water electricity food....this is not regularly available in pakistan and afganistan and we are rich and full of comfort here thats why they are jealous and just trying trying to disturb us with that nonsense things.... happy mylotting

" They were not Muslims , they were terrorists who were misusing the name of Islam." That's the Whole point. That's how I felt September 12th, 2001! That's why I made sure the Muslims I encountered felt comfortable.

...what happened in the past indeed created a trauma to most of the Americans and to other nationality that was involved during that attacked...however, it should not be a hindrance to our continuous relationship with fellow individual despite if they are Muslim or not...
