How would You define a good book?

Would it be one that you have sitting on a shelf in your home that you alone get to read,or would it be one by your bedside that you're currently reading,or would it be one that you've loaned to a friend and never got back?! I've had a few in the latter category...Share stories on your experiences of a good Book!

I would say a good book is when you actually can just sit down and read it thought the day. I would say that's a good book. Or even if you cant read it in one day but you really enjoy it and want to keep reading it that is a good book. Good book for me must be exciting and adventures.

Yep,being a pageturner is a prerequisite for a good book..if you put it down, and can't be bothered going back to it and instead go and do something else, there's something missing..

for me a good book is material that is able to captivate my attention and make me really interested. it has be something that can emotionally move me and zap my brain to reflect and think about the content of the book.. i remember reading "carrie" by stephen king and the story just blew me away. it felt like i was watching a movie and dreamin it at the same time. it makes ur body resist to essential bodily urges and calling and just makes u want to finish the book at once.. well.. i was young then, i was impressed how the story was told by the narrator..

I like that a good book can draw you in so much to the story that you can picture the characters and the settings around You,that you feel you are right along there with them for the ride...and not so much when a Movie director picks up on the story, and does it in a way that just feels so wrong!

A good book can be any and every category you named. Because for me, those things aren't what make a book good. A good book is a good story. Or, just good reading if it's not a story. A good book is one that if you have it, you want to read it and if you don't have it, you want to have it.

Thanks,That's another aspect of a good book I hadn't mentioned...and maybe here's another one-how about a book that you've read before, and will go back to and read again and again?

A good book would be one that is on the bookshelf, though if it's that good of a book it'd be on the bedside table atleast twice a year, or however long it takes me forget to some of the jist of it. I like True Betrayals by Nora Roberts for this purpose and now Montana Sky by Nora Roberts as well.

Finding an Author Who's a good storywriter is pretty much a requirement for a good book..They'll keep you coming back for more!

For me,a good book should make produce the sympathetic response with it or touch me deeply. It can touch my soul and bring relif to my worried mind.when i feel depressed,it can bring hope to me just like that mist slow dissipates as the sun rises.A book that can make me more actively and optimistic is my favorite.

Unfortuately I have no book in the progress of reading right now, simply because I know if I find a good book and I start reading it I will not stop reading it before it is finished... A good book is a book I cannot close even though I know I should close it because I have to get early up the next day, but yet you are still reading it until it is finished, which normally ends up beeing around 2-3AM in the morning... Now that is a good book! - But not good for your sleep
