Dengue hemorrhagic fever cases is rising here in the Philippines..im not sure what the total counts of the admitted patients in every hospitals in the different cities here but i know that it's at its peak already. One of the highest cases are here in central Visayas. Sad thing here is most people, especially those in the poor sectors of our society tend to ignore fever. We all know that fever is a good thing because it means our body is fighting against infection, but we also don't know that there are a lot of fever symptoms that can lead to a severe illness. Fever may be treated with paracetamols or with rest and water but when you feel other symptoms like joint pains, headache, chills and other symptoms of dengue..you should go see the doctor right away. Don't wait for the disease to cause your death or the death of a loved one.

you are right...as early as possible we should be a aware of our sick so it will not come to the point that we really suffered a lot. And of course prevention is better than cure so we should always clean our place.

....i got a dengue fever when i was still in grade 4 and i got a very high fever that time...good thing we have a native plant here in our province which is really effective as a first aid treatment for dengue fever..we call it "tawa-tawa" in Cebuano..

You're really diagnosed with dengue and your doctor did advised or permitted you to drink that? That's weird because even DOH people don't approve of those herbal medicines for first aid treatment..

...i was admitted into the hospital, that was the time when the dengue is very common in our area so you could easily tell that it was a dengue fever due to some symptoms, although you are right that the DOH nor the Doctor's don't approve of those herbal medicines, i've known many who tried it and it works...but it is still best to be guided with the DOH standard with regards to this matter...

Dengue is on its peak season so we should always treat each fever like it was already dengue. It's better safe than sorry. Also, we should clean our surroundings to make sure mosquitos that may potentially carry these disease won't spawn in them.

You're right, this way we can prevent these mosquitoes to spread and lessen the disease somehow. Thanks for sharing :)

yes, often we tend to ignore fever...but fever is the implications that something is wrong in our body systems...so every one, if someone you know has a fever please advice them to take medications right away, because fever cannot be cured immediately it will lead to a more serious illness....treasure your health everyone...because it is so expensive to be ill...

Expensive indeed and can even cause our deaths apparently if we ignore just small symptoms like fever.

It is certainly something not to be ignore. Fever indicates infection or abnormality in our body system. Yes, a night with a fever maybe ignored if you're well the next day but a recurring or continuous fever shouldn't. As the case given on the previous comments, more often it's too late to cure or medicate people who have had fevers. Then they blame the nurses and doctors that they didn't do their best. If the fever lasted all night long, recurring for 2 days or anything beyond a regular fever they should bring them to the hospital. As the famous quote says, prevention is better than cure.

Correct! Even to our less fortunate countrymen should be aware of this quote, because they are the ones who are mostly affected by the disease. Government officials should somehow widen their range of information dissemination about this as well so that everybody will be aware of the causes and signs of symptoms of dengue.

Fevers are not taken seriously by all bcoz it is one of the commonest health problem everyone has or had....so trend will be the same. And i think people should look into an episode of fever only when it has something additional to it ..that is fever when there is an outbreak of dengue and other diseases likeit or when other symptoms are there... the best way to understand a dengue fever from the rest of the fevers is by doing a blood routine...in which one can get to know their platelet count..and if the platelet count is low or is decreasing then one will have to also consider dengue in the list of diagnosis....

You are right, one way of not ignoring fever is by having CBC so as we will be able to check the blood components counts. Thanks for sharing :)

I never ignore fever specially with my children. I usually wait a day for the fever to subside and if it doesn't than I take them to the hospital and request for a CBC. If their doctor agrees than I have the CBC performed.

That's right because we really don't know what's happening inside our body if we have fever..

Yes i believe in you that fever should not to ignore of anyone because if this is associated with other pains it might cause of some infections. And sometimes may lead to severe illness that makes us troubles and more pain. Let us be attentive to sickly loveones in our family. Fever can cure of some medicines but the most important is the precautions and care. Let us be preventive. Have a nice day!

Let us all be preventive, precautions and be responsible enough to be able to irradicate this disease since this is a communicable disease we can pass this to others without us knowing..

I've read about the 'black leggings attracting unwanted attention from dengue carriying mosquito'. So, try to avoid to wear black leggings during rainy season. it is the best way to prevent this case other than cleanliness. Dont be a victim of dengue because of fashion...
