Universities in my country inquire All new students must gather to attend some short class which introduce the university and regulations. A little students joined. Almost of them think that these classes are not necessary. How do you think? They should attend or not?

I think these class also important for new students. They will know more things about the university and it's easy to make friends, adopt the new environment. Friends you know for the first time at the new environment will easily become your best classmate in the future, or the best friennd in life.

Yes, you're right. I used to have a close friend while I attended the class like this.

Of course this class is important because this way they get to know their classmates and get to know also how things go around that school. They can also see how the teachers are, what are theirs expectations and also when the real classes begin they wont be so nervous, and can participate to discussions more freely and without any fears. Its a good exercise to see how teachers act when they don't teach the students something, but when they just want to earn the students friendship because the first impresion in a relation, even if it is a student-teacher one, is very important so it should be a very good impression.

As a new student myself I think these are very important. Going to college for the first time can be frightening and confusing, having a class where I know what to expect takes some of that fear away..

Much better to take attendance as a compulsory because lots of basic information can be obtained during this session. Maybe some of them felt not needed as all of the information published on internet uploaded by the university. In the last 20 years, there was ragging session performed/done by seniors to freshies with no body contact and it was allowed by the university's administrative level. The objective is to establish an acquaintance. But, now it's irrelevant.

When I was a freshman, I never attended any of those gatherings. I really dont care about it. They say that you will not graduate if you dont attend but I graduated with flying colors.
