Imagine a world without lying?

Have you see that movie "The Invention of Lying"? This is a quite interesting movie, and I just like the idea of it. A world without lie, and people are honest with each other. They would say what is in their mind, and they won't mind to offend other people too. Quite a comedy, isn't it? People would even tell each other if they don't like that particular person in front of his/her face, because they won't lie. Just imagine how many people you might offend.
So, after all, this is a complicated world. Without lie, and pure honesty, you might create a list of enemies in life. With lie, as most people promoted it as a bad thing, you might make a lot of people happy. That is a dilemma in life, don't you think?

Material world wouldn't survive without lies.It's because it's imperfect.Maybe not the flora and fauna around us, but people.People wouldn't survive the brutal honesty.Nobody wants to hear the truth because it hurts!Sorry, you're the worst lover I ever had, sorry, your child has no talent, sorry, your face is ugly and you're fat, sorry, I never loved you, I just needed your money.Nobody wants to hear things like that.We lie to make things look better than they are.It's the requirement for happiness.That's why I can't imagine world where we say what we think.

I agree with you. Our world won't be always perfect like people depicted it without lie. But we still have to live our ways, and teach our children not to lie. Somehow, lie in a healthy way, unharmful way probably for a good cause.

Same here with kingparker. In an optimistic point of view, lie would be a helpful machine in keeping others or your reputation. Yup, it adds happiness in our life. But still, lets stay away from making lies. On the the other regions of this world, whether you turn it upside-down, lies are still bad.

I agree. We, in the west, ignore the power of our thoughts and contemplations. If we [people] change the way we think; soon it will change what we see;then what we perceive; and finally how we behave. I think the only way to eradicate corruption and terror is by changing, individually, what we allow to be acceptable and act accordingly this will change who we are around thus changing how we think will not only be easier it will be natural.

A world without lying??????
BORING...........
You might think its gonna be cool but think about it,its not gonna look good.I mean where would be the fun in living,the excitement and the drive...It will all be gone my friend!!!!
Im not saying lying is good,Im only saying we cant do without it.
Besides its not gonna be possible to live a life without lies.............
Imagin if america really told the truths about 9 11 attacks??? C what i am talking about!!

however i didnt watch the movie yet, but after your talk i think i must buy the cd. i can imagine how life will be without lying. people will get easily offended and there will be more crime as many people dont have to ignore bad words about them, and there will be more hatred among the people. many communities will soon grow there based on the taste of people's sense like what they like, dislike etc. also it will be very difficult to enjoy things. for example kids wont lie to their parents and parents will stop them or force them not to do certain things. so i dont want to live in such environment because it very dangerous and not enjoyable.

WORLD WITHOUT LIES?? It would be a great place for us to live in. But, in my opinion, it will be impossible if ever it happens. It would probably destroy the balance of equilibrium, one outweighing the other.

I think there would be a lot more fighting in the world than there is already. But most of the time you can tell who likes you and who doesn't. Some people you are forced to get a long with though, such as those you work or live with.

This would almost be like achieving perfection. A world without lies is inspiring. If we all could just be honest and truthful with each other, it wworld would be a much better plce to liv in. @danielthamrin (79)

world without lying is very very impossible, but if it is true, i would be sooo happy so we do not afraid that people would lie to us.. but the question is : is it possible?

Yes i have seen the movie and the person who lied for the first time was literally a god in there because he could get whatever he wants to. That one was a real cool movie and i really liked that part where they mentioned a man in the sky. One can only wish for such a world like that.
Lying has become a habit i can say for any person because there are no persons who actually believe a lie now. It's the society that has changed the people. I can only hope that maybe we can see that world someday!

That's an interesting movie, so I checked IMDB. It has Jennifer Garner in it! I'll definitely watch this one. Thanks for sharing.
It will be an interesting world if anyone doesn't lie, but I wonder if the world will be a better place. I think we'll still have good and bad people even if no one can lie. Greed can still occur. For example, if a politician is greedy and corrupt, he can't lie about it, but, he can still use money to buy off people so that he won't be prosecuted.

Lie, just like anything in this world, will be bad or good depending on how you use it.. it is true that telling the truth is the best thing to do, but there are times when lies needs to be done for the greater good.. again it still depends on the situation and your purpose in lying..

lies contains white lie,
if the world became a place without lie,
we could be relax because we can save our energy for distinguish other's lie,
but sometimes ,if a patient was badly illed,can you make up your mind to tell him the truth that he would die in a day?
