Campbell's soups are suffering!

People are not buying soup these days even with the economy on the downside, but Campbell's is really suffering. You know this is true when people purchase Food Lion's Lotsa Noodles instead of Campbell's Chicken Noodle. Food Lion? Come on! Food Lion has a poor reputation. Are you eating less Campbell's soup? If so, why? Are you making more homemade soup? I will tell you why I eat less of it. The article in the link doesn't even mention this as a possibility for why people might be eating less Campbell's soup. It has too much sodium. Of course, they do have a few low sodium soups, but some people may find them a bit tasteless.

I love Campbell's soup, but I have not been buying much of it lately. I don't think it's the prices or the taste, I think it's because I've learned how to make my own soup. I really enjoy making my own soup. I like layering the tastes and herbs and I like tasting all the ingredients coming together.

In my country Campbell soups (imported) are very expensive. Very few people buy it, I suppose mostly american living here. We make our own soups with meat, chicken, bones, fish, veggies, whatever as broth and then adding what we want.
I personally don“t buy many cans. When I think of it, I only use tuna cans and condense milk.

First of all yes they are loaded with sodium, which is not good for you, second I have noticed that the price has gotten higher and higher, I have begun to make my own, rather than to open a small can for the price they are charging, all soups on the shelf seem to have risen greatly in price. I some times use them as base for something that I am cooking, but I do believe that sodium is a big factor in people not buying them any more as they are not required to list how much, which they never used to do, but price I think is still a big factor.

The cans I use for casseroles have the sodium listed.

I can't speak for everyone else but at the prices Campbell's soup costs, I can't afford to buy all Campbell's.
I have now only bought the Campbell's soup in the three kinds I refuse to eat generic. Being Vegetable Beef, Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken.
All my other Soup is no name, only because I find Cambells way too much for such small tins which is probably why most people are buying Food Lion.
