Beware when using Paypal

Beware when using Paypal in your money making resources. Sure, it is free to set up a Paypal account. However, making payments from a credit card or debit card incur a fee of 2.9 percent plus 30 cents. The sender or the recipient can pay this for personal payments. If the purchase is for goods and services, the fee is automatically passed on to the merchant. Do you use a credit card or debit card when using Paypal?

Yeah, if you use a third-party payment site like paypal, they are going to charge a fee. That's just something we have to live with. They wouldn't make any money as a business if they did not charge some kind of processing fee.

The answer is to spend less, I suppose.

Yeah, that's how all businesses work. If you sell anything, even a service, you have to charge something. A t-shirt costs more to buy than it costs to make...because someone has to make a profit to keep producing t-shirts. Same way with PayPal...if they want to keep providing the service, they need to make a profit.

I think that 2.9% fee only counts for people that are maybe using a paypal credit card or debit card from paypal they do have cards but if you transfer money to your base bank account then it wounldnt do anything there isn't much to beware of only if you have a card credit or debit card with paypal then yes you have to know these fees thee not much hidden but shown. Well yeah I don't have one so im good haha

Hmmm... I don't think the charges are that big for the comfort of using it quickly and efficiently, don't you think? Though, I haven't tried myself because I opened a separate debit account strictly for my paypal account - just to be sure that nothing fishy is going on.

I have used my paypal in paying but the money is directly from my paypal account. There were some few charges. I have not used it in paying with my credit card. I am not sure about the charges. But I guess there will always be a charge as you have said. Of course, paypal also needs to earn.

It has been a couple of years since i have used paypal, and it was entirely for ebay. I had it set up through a checking account, with a credit card as the back-up payment method. I know there was no extra charge to my account, whether I was buying or selling anything. But it was just a personal account that I've only used it for ebay.

That was the situation for me, too.

If the fee is automatically passed on to the merchant, then it is okay to use Paypal by drawing funds from my debit card when paying for something sold online. The only problem is, when sending money to a business partner, let's say sending an incentive bonus to one of the affiliates in my downline team. Right?

I would think so, but I am not 100% sure.

It really depends on whether the payment is in which currency. Usually, if it's in USD, I would use my paypal balance. But if it's in SGD, I would use debit card because I think the conversion rate may overtake the fees in such cases. It's actually mentioned in their FAQs but it also depends on the types of account concerned in the transaction.

Yes their are fees assoicated with almost every kind of service that is provided on the internet.Paypal though now allows you to be able to send money to anyone on the entire planet and it is instant.I love this new feature and it truely a lifesaver in a case where you are stranded in a small town or rural area and do not have anymoney in your bank account and have a computer accesable with a paypal account.I make sure that i am on a secure connection as if you are on someones unsecured router they could use programs to find out your paypal and bank account information.

I have it set up with my bank account. Never have had any fees incurred. I also do not use it all the frequently. As for the merchant encountering a fee, that is common for all credit card companies.

The fees are usually paid by the store. You don't pay these fees. However, there are times when I've to pay this fee. I dont like it, but I can't use any other systems: alertpay, egold. They aren't as popular and not a lot of places accept it.

The fees are paid by the SELLER, not the buyer. Here's an example: if you bought an iPod on eBay, there are no fees for you as the buyer. BUT the seller will pay those fees as the merchant. It depends on which side of the transaction you're on. Hope that helped you (and anyone else) to understand that.

I understand why Paypal charges those fees; of course they have to sustain their operation cost. Meanwhile, I don't use my PayPal account when paying items. I just use that to receive money from my online earnings. I just plan on withdrawing the funds only when it's bigger.

Yes there is really a percent deducted from you when you use Paypal because that's the way paypal earn from you. Ive been using it for a year now and I didnt encounter any problem from it.

That is very much true. They even have very high transfer fees about 4-5% of the amount. Another thing that I don't like with paypal is that there conversion rate is lower than the real exchange rate. For our country it's 1 peso lower and that's big enough.
