This morning my facebook friend post her status that said she was wondering and challenging herself to "suicide" her facebook account. And many of friend gave their responds. Its look like facebook can be addiction. Am I right? My friends can't satisfy if for one day they don't open their facebook. Moreover now it's easily opened from mobile phone. the games on facebook too can be another reason become addiction of it. The games make us must play it everyday. So how about you? Do you like the idea of close your facebook account?

truly, facebook can be addicting. but it will always rely on your control. I once canceled my account when I was making my thesis. when iw as about to complete it, a few months before graduation, i made a new account and once again enjoyed every bit of it. :)) well i guess there were no withdrawals (LOL) when i cancelled it because iwas spending much of my time with friends at school. so i get updated of their whereabouts and important events in their life. now that we have graduated and are apart, i would not really prefer closing by account because i really wanted to easily get in touch with them.. what probably should be done is to learn to prioritize so it won't intervene with any of your important affairs (school/work) :)

well since u joined facebook and u want to meet new people and want ur friends to know whats going on with u , u shud be responsible with whatever u do wiht ur account. i have facebook too cos i want to post pictures so my family and friends can see what i am up to with my life. if u think u cant handle being with facebook then deactivate ur account ,as simple as that. if facebook is making ur life too complicated, then leave facebook... decide for urself, dont depend on other people to tell u what to do. its ur life u shud know what u want to do with ur own life.. its how u handle things that will make ur life worryfree

I have been a member for over 3 years but for the last 9 months I have no interest in facebook any longer. I have the application in my blackberry and every time I get an alert like every other minute I hit delete. So I could easily be one to close it at any time, as really I find a lot of the stuff posted on their to be quite rubbish anyways. I mean who cares that someone just arrived at work, truly what do we respond - Okay??

That is a good one hardworkinggirl. I do not want to sound trite, but, you are correct. Some people are really serious about their status. LOL Here is one that gets me too. On a fan page for an entertainer: Status: "I just ate chicken" Responses: "Save me some. Oh wow, Sounds good, yada yada yade." I thought it was just me. Nonetheless, I just move on down the news feed. :)

Too funny, I use to think that these people needed twitter accounts as isn't this what twitter was invented for.

LOL, I don't understand how the facebook games can make you so addicted. Are they really so nice to play? Are they more addictive than the 3D games of XBOX's and PC's?

it is addictive. My first three days since i registered on facebook i was on it almost every single minute that i neglect other important things. Now, i tend to discourage myself to open the account all the time. Just 2x a day to see whats up. I have learned to discipline myself.

I am not really addicted to Facebook, so I would have no problems closing my account if I really have to. But the only thing that I would regret if I do close my Facebook account is that I would lose touch with all the long lost friends that I have managed to locate on Facebook. Thanks to Facebook, I have managed to establish contact again with many of my secondary school friends and college friends that I have lost contact with after my student years. And to get back into contact with old friends was the ultimate reason why I joined Facebook anyway......so my final verdict, I would not feel comfortable closing my Facebook account unless someone can tell me the way to keep the contacts of all my friends from Facebook......

I got addicted to the games on Facebook and this addiction is from 1 year. Now I am in hope that I will stop the games at the end of this year. These games are wasting a lot of my time and playing them will not give any knowledge or any money, so, why should we all create traffic for these games, we are missing a lot in life due to these games. So, I will try my level best to stop playing games. If that happens there is nothing to do on FB but to just chat with other members or friends. That too is also big waste of time, so, better to close the account.. I see what brings for me the new year 2011.. :D

Hi, Y4nkT33. I have seriously considered closing my entire facebook account. I don't like to be on this site because many people act as if I don't exist sometimes. Facebook can become an addiction. I almost got addicted, but I stopped myself fast! I don't want to be on this site so much. I love myLot so much better. I would rather become addicted to myLot instead.

I really like Facebook. I don't want to get rid of it. I can understand how some people may get addicted. But, I don't think I am addicted. I don't freak out if I can't log in. I enjoy Facebook because I have been able to reconnect with so many people I lost contact with. We didn't have anything like this when I graduated from high school, so it was very difficult to keep in touch with friends. Facebook makes that so easy. I can understand limiting your Facebook time, but I wouldn't delete my account completely.

Facebook can be very addicting if you let it be. You have to have control over what you do. Many let facebook control them, they think oh I gotta get on there and see what such in such said, what is going on, this and that. I have an account and do visit it daily, but I know my limits. Most of the time, I just get very annoyed with it with all the lame updates about what people are watching on TV, or they are going to work or this and that... Give me something to actually read, is what I honestly feel like telling them, but never do, lol. :) I don't think I would close my account as I do have a few games I play and I know this sounds pretty lame, but I'd lose my levels!

I completely closed my Facebook account just a few days ago, so I was happy to see this thread. It was the BEST thing I had done for my personal freedom besides getting rid of my cell phone. Closing my account was a spur of the moment thing for me after receiving a horrible and cruel message from a family friend after posting on my wall about a close friend dying. Afterwards, though, I couldn't have been happier. I wasn't even addicted. I had played some of the games and had applications on my profile a few years back, but lately, it was just checking to see if anything was new. Yet I still feel relieved that I won't have to get on there and have people leaving nasty things on my wall...I don't have to worry about who commented on something and who didn't, and if they didn't, WHY...Facebook is an odd communication tool. You can call or email a friend and get worried over why they haven't responded if days go by...but on Facebook, you can simply miss a notification or an update of theirs and think they're irked at you when they aren't. A LOT of false assumptions can be started with using Facebook. Whether or not you are addicted to Facebook, I urge anyone who's thinking about quitting to do it and see how it makes you feel. If you don't feel relieved, you can always log back in and get your profile back, or so it tells you when you get rid of your account. Part of the problem with Facebook, for me, is that when you have an account, you are inviting every person on your friends list into your home, quite literally. When I checked my account the day I deleted it and saw that nasty comment...it was almost like I didn't feel safe from that cruelty in my own home. I was on my laptop, in my house, reading something that never should have been said. It felt personally insulting and security breaching...and thus I encourage anyone who's thinking about quitting to try it out.

I don't do a lot with my Facebook account. I'm actually rather disturbed sometimes when I read how involved some people are and how much time each day they spend there. But then I realise how much time I spend here and at another site (a kid's site no less) and I have to admit I'm doing the same thing. Actually I have 2 FB accounts. I tried to close the other one and I was unable to do so.

Facebook account closed or not, depending on the goals we set up an account. I closed my facebok account, because I've made a mistake. I use my facebook account, for something that is useless and detrimental to me. Then I create a new account, which I use to find referrals and catching up with family.

Hello there, i don't need to do that as i am not really addicted to facebook. Moreover, i use it keep contact with my friends and that is all i do with facebook now, no games please. My friends play games such as farmville and all, and it looks rather funny watching them grow sunflower for fuel. But, anyways, if they like it then it's okay, but i have no other business with facebook but to see my friend's updates and their whereabouts.

i don't think it is best to close your account, it is our one way to get in touch with long lost friends as i was able to find some of them, if we do not want to play then i guess it is our decision not to
