Dysmenorrhea - is a gynecological medical condition characterized by severe uterine pain during menstruation.Dysmenorrhea can feature different kinds of pain, including sharp, throbbing, dull, nauseating, burning, or shooting pain. I got this explanation from Wikipedia. I always experience this pain every month. It's really killing me and I want to know what I can do to prevent this one or this is really normal for us girls? Why are we always in pain in every aspect of life?LOL! If you know what to do kindly share it with me please...

I was in your situation, what helped out, the pill! I was having really bad menstrual cycles twice a month, and they were painful. It got to the point where I went to my doctor and told him to put me on something because I couldn't take it anymore. He agreed to put me on the pill. That was the best thing he ever did for me. You should go to your doctor and see what they can give you. Tell them that you are in this kind of pain every time you have your period. There has to be something that he or she can give you.

I just saw my doctor today, and he told me that your cycle can trigger a lot of different kinds of changes. Tell your doctor that you are in a lot of major pain when you are on your cycle, and keep a record of it.

Yes I will see my doctor as soon as I can. But I remember during my college days, my doctor advised me to take a pill but it's not working for me as well so I had to stop taking that pill. But thank you for sharing, I think I'm just super stress and I really need some exercise here =)

Sorry to hear you have such difficulties with the pain every month. Warm compresses would probably soothe. Have you consulted a doctor, who can get to the root of the actual culprit. This would be my best advice. As remedies can help soothe but the main problem should be eliminated. Good luck and be well.

hmmm warm water, I did not think of that, I will try that as sometimes under a great deal of stress I have a tendency to bite down on my teeth subconsciously and so it causes a great deal of pain in my entire mouth. Where I feel very uncomfortable. I will try the warm water and see if this helps. Win/win my friend we all learn something new each day. Oh my little girl cry's all day in silence so she either entertains or at least does not bother anyone's ears.

hi hardworkinggurl you always make me smile with your emoticons!haha LOL! I have not consulted my doctor yet but I'll definitely do it as soon as I can. Instead of warm compresses, what I normally do is drink warm water - it helps me a lot =) Thanks!

Hi shearry, I am sorry to hear that you suffer every month...have you been to see doctor about your symptoms? I think most of us girls suffer some degree of discomfort every month during our menstruation cycle but if it is causing your life to be put on hold and stops you from doing things then you should go and see a doctor as I am sure there will be something that he can prescribe to help you. In the meantime there are some self heating pads I buy from our local supermarket, not sure if you can get them, you just stick them onto your underwear over your lower tummy area and they warm up and stay warm for quite a few hours and I have found they are very helpful and help to alleviate some of the pain and discomfort.

On my part I just rest whole day and drink hot water. I don't take medicine, I have issues with medicine.hehe.. This is just based on personal experience since I have no medical background. I don't know if stress is involve but better be relax and avoid some things that stresses you ;).

I'm in pain almost every month as well, it's really annoying. I try to bear with it, but if it gets too much then I take some medication for it and it works wonders. I second what some other users have said too, using warm pads over your lower belly area can help with the pain somewhat as well. I guess most girls experience that sort of things during that time of the month. Also, I remember what my doctor told me that, apparently, the more stressed and anxious you are, the more likely it'll hurt when you get your period... but then again, I think I'm pretty stress-free nowadays and I'm still in pain anyway, so I don't know how accurate it is :P

I also experience this dreaded pain once a month. I'm not really sure why this happens but I noticed that it gets more painful when I am stressed or I am not eating on time. When I was in college, during my thesis-making days, the pain really crippled me. I needed to cut class, and take a taxi to go home because I couldn't walk anymore. It was so painful it would make me vomit. These days, it's not so painful anymore, I can still manage to go to work even if I'm experiencing dysmenorrhea. I think, a healthy lifestyle is very important to minimize the pain of dysmenorrhea. You should exercise regularly too. I remember when I was doing yoga, I didn't experience menstrual cramps.
