Hi Guys,
Could you please help me to figure out what would be the problem with my Acer Laptop (aspire 4720Z), cause if I will open it in a cetain angle the monitor flickers. I don't want to disassemble it cause maybe i couldn't put it back anymore.
And also if it hibernates, I can't wake it up, I have to press the power off, for me to use it again, I pressed all the keyboard keys and the mouse but still nothing happens.
What supposed to be the problem here? Help please.

On laptops just underneath the monitor you have something known as the inverter card! This inverter card controls the light and brightness that you see on your screen. This can be replaced if there is a major problem but if your monitor is flickering slightly then it sounds as though it might be a lose connection in terms of the cable that is connected to the Inverter card inside the laptop. Do you have warranty on your laptop? If so then you can get it checked out for free.
In terms of your hibernation problem this is something you can control in your power options section in control panel. Have a look at the settings in there and choose the most appropriate option for your needs. Good luck. Andrew

Hi AnrewFreyne....
It flickers when I open it at a certain angle.. If it's in a 90deg or more, there's no problem, but lesser than this about 80deg, 75deg or less, flickering continues..makes reading difficult...
If the inverter card is the problem, what will happen to the monitor? Will becomes blackout? So do you think in my case it's only a loose connection?
It's not under warranty anymore.. I will try to open it myself, hope I could fix it and be able to put it back again...Coz if not, hu hu hu...
I already changed the settings for the hibernation but still i can't wake it up...

If the inverter card underneath your laptop monitor became disconnected completely then you wouldn't be able to see anything on your screen at all. it could be a loose connection. With computer problems it's all about testing things and seeing what works and what doesn't work. If you are going to open up the laptop yourself you must be very careful and make sure that you don't make a minor problem much worse.
The first thing you must do is remove your laptop battery. Also, before touching anything inside the laptop make sure that you ground yourself first! Computer components are very vulnerable when it comes to ESD or Electro Static Discharge. Before touching anything inside your laptop make sure that you touch a metal port on the rear of your laptop! This will release any static charge on your finger tips. Then you can do what you have to safely and this will protect the electrical components within your laptop.
I would think very carefully before opening up your laptop. The inverter card is just underneath the monitor! There should be a couple of screws at each end that you can remove and this will allow you to remove the very thin cover and you should then see the inverter card under this. How long have you had the laptop? Is it worth just purchasing a new laptop with a full warranty and just make sure that you renew the warranty everytime it expires? Well, I wish you luck. Andrew

If flickers happen at certain angle....most likely it is cable connection problem. You have to open it and fix it. For hibernation can't wake up....you got to look for the setting which control your hibernation setting in our system...Search acer web site for tips...

Hi opportunity2u.. Thanks for the reply... I'm afraid of opening my laptop, coz maybe i wont be able to put it back again and will just lead to more serious problems... Anyway, I can still stand it...Just asking for any idea which I need not to disassemble/open it... For the hibernation, i already tried changing my settings, but still it's the same, I can't wake it up...still need to long-press the power button off... one solution here, just don't leave the laptop unplug, so it won't hibernate, ha ha ha ..(but still I want to find solution for this)... Thanks again.
