Sudoku can help eliminate Alzheimer's!

I was told that old people who continue to stimulate their grey cells with numbers would likely not suffer from Alzheimer's disease. And since not everyone play poker, a sudoku puzzle might just do the trick. The oldies I see at the coffee shops such as McDonald's and Starbucks are equipped with newspapers and ball pens. They do take their time placing the numbers in the proper box while sipping their morning coffee.

I begin looking for number 1, checking is I could place the number 1 according to the other numbers provided. I do it vertically and horizontally. Then i proceed to number 2, and then 3, and so on. When this is done and the puzzle ain't solved yet, I go 123456789, either filling a cube first or filling a line.

I don't know that games can't prevent Alzheimer's. It a biological problem, possibly genetically related. Scientists are still trying to find the cause. Doing puzzles can help keep you mentally sharp as you grow older but I don't believe that it will stop dementia.

You are correct, burrito. But actual studies are showing that old people who continue to exercise their grey cells do not become senile. Perhaps that is their basis for their contention.

Hi,
I wonder what my life would be if Sudoku hadn't been invented. But that doesn't mean that I am old. Don't even think that it is prescribed by some doctor. I don't think I have Alzheimer's. But what you've mentioned here is worth noting. If solving sudoku increases grey cell then I think I will make that my daily habit. I am of the opinion of making sudoku compulsory in every educational institute. Sudoku should be everywhere, not just in newspapers. Sudoku should be in text-books, in television, on political leaflets and on our national flags. Dear, Sudoku is my middle name.
I love it so damn much.
Thanks.
God bless you.

There you go, nophie, the daily newspapers actually carry sudoku puzzles, and they can be found just beside crossword puzzles.
Yes myth, sudoku is a mental exercise.
