in the past week, the french government has been expelling gypsies from france to romania. this is unthinkable in our times, and in european regional integration. are gypsies being treated as europeans? even so a second class europeans?

Well gypsies have always been subject to different forms of persecution, some deserved, some not so deserved. If they are entering France and committing crimes, then yes, get them out. If there is no evidence of any guilt then why not just leave them alone?
I worked at Universal Studios for over 5 years so I'm well aware of the trouble gypsies can cause. We used to get huge families of them each year that would try to rob the gift shops. Many had trespass warrants and would be detained and arrested on sight if they entered the park so security would bring posters with all their mug shots to the gift shops and attractions so we would be on the lookout.

as you said, some deserve to be subjected to persecution, and some do not. then, is it the shortcoming of authorities to be able to identify who are these culprits who are causing troubles? the expulsion of the whole camps does not make all those in the camps guilty of any crimes. it is unfortunate that the work of some is being generalized to the whole group, just because of previous records of these group. western governments should know how to deal with this situation.

Gypsies are European, 'nomadic' European to be more precise. But the point is this. A lot of politicians talked about the benefits of EU enlargement, that is expanding the European Union into Eastern Europe. The problem is that the countries in Eastern Europe (eg Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, etc) are poorer that countries in Western Europe (eg UK, France, Germany, etc.) Result is that we get massive economic migration from Eastern Europe to Western Europe, and the consequence is that the wages of Western workers, particularly those who are unskilled, have been in decline as they are forced to compete with Eastern European workers who are prepared to do the work more cheaply. And those clever politicians who were so keen on enlargement and who rail against these Eastern European migrants know perfectly well that there is nothing, but nothing, that they can do about it. This because, as they well know, one of the key principles of the European Union is free movement of ALL EU citizens wihin the EU. So if you are a Romanian gypsy, you can move to France, the UK, or anywhere else in the EU, and there is nothing anyone can do about this under EU law. Hence why the risk that France will face infraction procedings from the European Commission.
So when politicians in Western Europe talk about stopping migration from Eastern Europe, including these Romanian gypsies, the only way you can do this is if their Western European country leaves the EU. As they are not proposing this, then they are talking a pack of lies when they pretend they can do something about the situation, and they know this perfectly well.
