Not just kids are so cruel...

So I am sure that many of you are fully aware of facebook. Well I saw a post today from an old friend from high school (that I am thankful I am not in social association with) who posted a picture of the back of someone's head. She claims it was disgusting. I saw the picture, looked like the back of an old man's bald head to me. However, all of these girls started posting about how nasty that man is as if they even know him. So I posted that the man was innocent, and everyone should follow the GOLDEN RULE. you know, treat others the way you'd like to be treated. Someone started defending their actions, saying it was OK because it wasn't to the man's face. I said that that was the most worst excuse I have ever heard, and that she should be ashamed, and I asked her how she would feel if someone took a picture of her and then showed it to all of their friends to laugh at and poke fun of. I just don't understand why people are so mean, and how people can think that it's OK to make fun of someone else's appearance when they can't help it.

People definitely can be cruel and, I agree with the first poster, they are insecure about their own appearance so they make fun of others. Some people need to have their egos bumped up and will go out of their way to create situations like that.

The only thing I cannot figure out is why on the internet? How does that make you feel better about yourself? How does anonymously making fun of an anonymous person make yourself feel better? It makes no sense to me!

I think it all comes down to peoples' own insecurities. Plus, facebook (or even the internet in general) allows people to not have to face the awkwardness and reality of saying things in person, face to face. It's sad that people can say such cruel things. D:

I agree with you. However just because it's a reason doesn't mean it's an excuse. But I believe things don't have to be that way. We can all try to accept and love one another!

A lot of people really need to really not talk about people like that behind their backs. Yet, there are people who are rude and talk about people, without knowing the full story, or knowing who the person is. That is an ugly part of humanity to say the very least. We had a lot of people who are going to say what they want to say and it is not going to be the nicest thing of the world. Just think of how you would feel if someone was going to do the same thing. Does not sound too nice, does it? Yet, these people are lashing into others in a hurful manner. Some people tend to come across as a bit hypocritical. I just want to shake my head. If it was you, it would be an outrage, but since it is someone else, it is just open season to say the least. So sad really.
