Anyone out there who uses cloth diapers? Why do you use them and what brands do you like?

We don't use cloth diapers anymore the way they are intended to be used. We use them as towels now. We usually tuck them between the back (skin) and shirt of my nephews while they are playing so that it will absorb their sweat. Sometimes I use it that way too when I am cleaning the house or doing something that will make me sweat a lot. Sometimes we use it as hand towels. We're not particular about the brand, though. The cheaper ones are ok.

are you talking about prefold diapers? Just wondering because I have a hard time picturing an all in one type diaper used in that way... Although great job finding a new function for an old item.

No, not the prefold ones. The really old type of cloth diapers that are like towels and you still have to fold them. LOL!

I use cloth, and love it. I first started with Gdiapers. They are hybrid. so i could use a flushable insert, or cloth with them. I used cloth in them, always. They worked really well when my daughter was smaller. Then I switched to the flip. I LOVE these. I can use them with the gDiaper inserts, or as a cover. I love everything about them. I just got into using flats. They are the REAL old school cloth diaper. just a flat piece of fabric that you have to fold. They are really neat. I like them a lot. I use my flip cover with them, or wool longies that my mom made. I do it mainly for the money of it, and of course for the enviroment :)

I use the flip too. I love these for when I am at home. But when I am out these can get a bit messy. So I use "smartipants" or "fuzzibuns" and "bungenius" when I am out. I haven't tried the Gdiapers. I almost brought them one day when i was at babys r us, but I didn't because of the cost. Although they seam like they fit newborns better, I prefer the one size fits all ones as they save more money in the long run. But I would love to be able to use the Gdiapers one day. maybe someone will buy them for us for our next baby. lol

My second baby is using cloth diapers. I think it's more environmental friendly, as I don't throw away so many diapers. It costs less too. Though it might be very costly at the beginning, as I have buy 12 diapers at one go, in long run, I suppose it'll save cost. Also, I think it absorbs better and avoid leakage better. Before I started to use the cloth diapers, I thought I might need to buy disposable diapers when I bring my baby out, as I heard the cloth diapers may not be able to last very long hours. But, I even let my baby sleeps with cloth diapers on at night for long hours, without needing to change. It's still dry at the surface. I think my baby feels more comfortable wearing the cloth diaper too, as it's cloth and doesn't contain any chemical stuffs. I am using the brand called Lovely World, I believe it's a local brand.

Hi. caecal07. No. I don't ever buy cloth diapers. I was thinking about it though. I don't really like the fact of washing out a diaper once it has mess in it. I caught h*** just cleaning out of my son's potty training toilet. My husband has made some shirts out of cloth diapers to put on our two kids. He only did this when we ran out of disposable diapers.

I use them because they are better for the environment. My childrens diapers wont be sitting in the land fills waiting to decompose, which takes many more years then anyone thinks. Plus in the long run they will save you money on buying disposable ones. You just have the initual pay out of a few hundred and then thats it. where as disposable ones can run in to the thousands. I like "smartipants" the most, but for aaving money the "flip" and "econobum" is the one you want.
