Because of the unstable economy and political issues in the Philippines, more and more educated and skilled citizens prefer to work abroad as they can’t see anymore where the country is leading to with the kind of leaders we have. It can be noted that Philippines is rich with natural resources compared to other countries in Asia, but why are we in the third world country? It only shows that the leaders we had, was not able to cultivate whatever resources we had then. The major reason why Filipinos prefer to work abroad is the low salary rate given by employers. Getting an education in the Philippines is not that easy even if you come from a family of middle income earner. And once you start working the income you earn is not even enough to augment the family’s basic needs. Isn’t it frustrating? This and other aspects are the reasons why Filipinos working abroad are steadily increasing. Filipinos working abroad earn three times more compared if they work here in the Philippines. Even if their work is a blue collared job, the income they earn abroad is still a lot more compared to working in his homeland. When you work in a company, benefits is always side by side with income. But as observed, most company’s benefits cannot be appreciated that as they cannot be utilized all the time. Not that we want to be sick just to use the sickness benefits but can they give us more than what is usually given?Sometimes we feel that we don't have any choice. Its like a take it or leave it situation where you are left with no choice but to grab it for the moment while waiting and looking for a better income earning job. It is not easy for a Filipino to leave his country especially those who are still starting a family. But sometimes choice is not a question anymore but it is a battle for survival.

The wobbly economic and political situation in the Philippines is one of the main reasons why most professionals and highly knowledgeable Filipinos choose to work abroad. They could not see any light from higher authorities to realize success for the country. And for the people they find more meaning giving in their skills in other countries, rather than staying in a place where stability is far by reach. Our country is governed mostly by dishonest and unserious in dealing with the country's economic progress and growth. They are busy arguing, debating, and opposing each other ideas and projects rather than making steps in solving the present problems of the country. There is lack of collaboration, sympathy, acceptance and consideration. They in complaining rather than working hard for the country. Philippines is a rich nation because of the resources that we have. However its not well handled. That is why many Filipinos leave yearly to look for better opportunities abroad. Some of them prefer to work and stay permanently. The other main reason is "Poverty" some Filipinos acquire work from factories or manufacturing firm for the purpose of having experience but really don't have to stay longer in the company. The source of livelihood is not enough for the growing family, so one of the partners must decide to go abroad for the good future of the family. Another main reason is the "low wages" college education is expensive, parents really find it hard to pay tuition and school projects. The moment they land a job in the Philippines, he does not get compensated enough to equal his investment in education. That is why most Filipinos skilled workers acquire job abroad. Where wage is proportionate to education skills and experience. Even skilled professionals here grab the opportunity to work as maids, caregiver, sales ladies, construction workers and laborers from other countries. As long as it is upright and high paying. Each Filipinos who opted to work abroad have their own reasons why they prefer to work abroad. Filipinos now are become more practical. Some of us no longer value the spirit of Patriotism. Because we need money that's a necessity in order to live. Not only to live but also to live securely when it comes to daily needs such as food, clothing and shelter, the need to provide good education among children and to have stable income for the family. To work or not to work abroad every Filipinos desire to have a decent and quality of life.

I think it is because of high income and better oppurtunity to earn a living. Imagine,if you are working and earning at least 2k US dollar in a month. That's around 100k peso money in a month. that amount will take you at least 4 months to work here. So, if I have the opportunity, i'll work hard to go abroad.

for me filipinos prefer to work abroad, because of the crisis of our country today, reason why the salary of our worker is lower than other country salary, other reason,it is because many of our leader are corrupt.

You already said everything.. I do agree with you...Need to work abroad for greener pasteur....How you will be able to survive earning P12thou pesos gross income a month while there's a greater opportunity to earn more abroad. How will you budget this amount (especially if your the only one working in your family) for the basic commodities eg. food, clothing, house rent, education expense, water & electricity, fare and other misc/necessary expenses?? It's really not enough.. It's really tough to be far away from your family and work abroad, it's really heartbreaking.... but what to do except to SACRIFICE, SACRIFICE, SACRIFICE, to give the family a better life...Working abroad is not only for one's own self but for the whole family...

What will happen if you will stay in Philippines earning 12thou pesos gross income while there's a lot opportunity outside the country? How can you budget lesser than P12,000? Budget for basic commodities food, shelter, clothing, educational expenses, fare, water and electricity, house rent and other misc. expenses? Income less than P12thou a month is really not enough..HOW you'll survive in this situation? It's very tough to be far away from your family.. but nothing else we can do... SACRIFICE, SACRIFICE, SACRIFICE, if you really want your family to have a better life..

Its because of money. Salary in the Philippines is low and is only enough for one person.

Filipinos prefer to work abroad because the SALARY there pays double even triple, your salary is not computed in a day basis or month basis, it is computed in an HOURLY basis ,that's why Filipinos tend to get two or three jobs a day. Lets face it its a lot of sacrifice working abroad though sometimes we need to sacrifice cause here in our country the Government only offer less wages compared to foreign countries, Our Government also cannot give adequate jobs that's why UNEMPLOYMENT sector is rising every year lots of graduating students adds to it... well we have to admit that our government cant give us all the benefits cause we belong to a third world country...we need so much time and support plus patience ...:-)

Despite the number of jobs available in jobstreet or other recruitment sites locally, only a few jobs are available to Filipinos that fits their qualifications. Also, most of the work here does not compensate enough. Although, I think some Filipinos would like to go abroad because of curiosity.

, for me it is very simple, because salary in the Philippines cannot compensate all our needs. I am an employee of a company and my salary is just enough for my allowance. I think i will also work abroad to find better job
