Will you have an abortion if you know the fetus in you would be born abnormal?

Since technology can identify whether a embryo or fetus in the mother's womb is abnormal (down syndrome etc) or not, do you think you will have an abortion if your child is down syndrome? For certain people, they would still consider to give birth to it... but will the baby be thankful and happy for this decision or will he/she blame to parents for giving them such an abnormal life?

It's really a tough question. Honestly I don't know what will I do if that happens to me. This is really difficult for a mother like me.

I do think it is a tough decision myself. If we keep the child but he/she can not take care of themselves, what happens when we are not around. However, taking away the life of innocent also seems cruel...

No, I will never have an abortion and if I was pregnant with an abnormal baby I would give birth then hope for the best for my baby. In April 2007 at 36 weeks pregnancy I had a scan and found out I was expecting a baby boy with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. I was offered an abortion and I said no way. I went ahead with the home birth that I had planned. My son is now a happy little 3 year old. He is unable to walk and he needs catheter care. He goes to a playgroup for disabled children and a normal nursery school. At the special needs playgroup I know many other disabled children. That includes a few with down syndrome. They are all lovely children that get the help that they need. They are happy children and the parents are lucky to have them. I think a baby that is disabled grows up grateful that his or her parents have given him life. Through modern medical care my son has been able to have two successful operations. I have been able to keep him alive and give him a wonderfully happy time in life.
