Its not the Facebook or the internet that is dangerous. Its the state of ignorance we get into when using these technology. Few months ago, some lady posted in her facebook her whereabout. What happened? Well she posted she was not in her house. Her house was robbed, apparently by her FB friends. Was it the Facebook's fault? No. Just be careful with the infor you are putting in and you will be fine.

Facebook tries to keep users informed about safety features and warns against letting everyone see your information. There have been many news and informational programs here in the U.S. discussing the dangers of meeting someone from the internet, who really is a stranger no matter how long you have been talking to him/her. It's also up to parents to inform their children about the dangers of strangers on the internet and to monitor their computer usage.

There are so much benefit that we can get from Facebook and also the opposite of it. That why I have multiple account in there, and my primary account was for my real friends. And others just for fun like play games and apps.Making groups in order to get benefit from it like visitors, leads or referral. For this account I will accept all friend request, but I'm not use my real identity and never want to meet them for any reason.

No, I don't think facebook or internet is dangerous. The users of them can be dangerous. It is not supurise to hear such news about online crime as the users are not Jesus-actually, they would be evil in most of the case. It is hard to recognise if the person is a sheep or a wolf. Discrete to choose a friend to add or communicate become important.

The members are to blame. But by the popularity of facebook, more and more people are joining because their friends are there too. And some of those would trust ANYONE they thought are kind. That is the dangerous part. But what can FB do about it? Nothing. SO it is up to the members to be more cautious.

i think facebook become dangerous because the people who use it not use FB as well as possible and i think we must be careful when we know someone and that people want to meet us ,because when people get trap with the stranger chat they feel so interesting and excited so they want to meet them in real life..

it become dangerous for those who give more information about their personal information as well as the photos posted on their wall. We must be responsible for that information. we should never disclose all information that is not necessary to know by others. Also, we should select friends whose going to accept or not. Facebook has privacy settings to publish which information do you want to publish only.

I think any social networking site can be dangerous. This includes myLot, MySpace, etc. I am a member of Facebook and I don't divulge much information about myself on the site other than my birthday and my education. I joined to keep in touch with old friends and use instant messaging with our daughter who lives in another state. Am not looking to meet another man since I am married many years and content. At first I wasn't so excited seeing all the pictures of our grandkids on Facebook because of the crazy things that happen in our country such as taking kids and other bad things that happen. But I have to trust our kids and their judgement since they are adults now. Plus there is a privacy setting on Facebook.

Young people are too trusting and desire attention from anyone not thinking that the man/women could be dangerous. Facebook and several sites are becoming too explict.

If you are not being careful and responsible with your activities in facebook, yes, it could be dangerous. We should retain a little privacy about our lives, our daily activities and our informations. Due to the desire to get more friends and be easily known we tend to display everything available for everyone to see .This is where the problem begins. We become an easy prey for robbers, rapist and anybody stalking us. So, in order to be safe, be responsible with what you are doing in the WWW. You'll never know who is browsing you profile or page...

Whoever said the internet/facebook are safe? Why do people assume that? Why do you assume that putting your personal information in a virtual kind-of-public space is safe? Most users don't even change privacy settings and you can view their information even without being their friend. I, for one, only have my name on my facebook page and only connect to friends/people who've been to the same highschool. Point is: you can't blame facebook because some users are stupid/naive/etc. It's just a tool, a non-living thing. Do you blame a knife for a stabbing, or a car-crash on the car? Tools are neither "bad", nor "good". It all depends on how the wielders choose to use them. At least, that's what I think. Also, the girl agreed to meet a complete stranger. That is such a big no-no, I won't even comment on it. If you really need to do something like this, at least try to go to a very public place and after that, don't follow him home.

hi codris, in fairness to facebook and their objective in building this social network site, i would say it depends upon each individual who joined and participateed in this social networking..we are responsible for our own actions, not just in the internet but also in our everyday life...before we join a certain sites/websites, we should be responsible enough and learn about how to maintain and keep our privacy...sharing things that is happening in our life is okay, but we should know the limitation, what are the things we can share to the public and what are the things that we need to keep in our self...giving your home phone number and complete address is like putting yourself in a total risk...

Yes honestly facebook is beginning to be dangerous now particularly to the youth. We may not vividly notice this but more students now are spending more time on facebook than in working on their studies and school requirements. Facebook is stealing the precious time of the youth which will eventually yield negative results if will be taken for granted.

I don't think Facebook is or will become dangerous because for one, danger is always around. Anytime. Anywhere. It is just up to us particularly Facebook users to be responsible, careful and cautious when we meet up with someone we know not just from Facebook but as well as all the other different social sites all over the internet.

Facebook should be for people over 18. I don't think high school kids should be allowed to use it. Some teens are responsible but all kids are naive and don't understand the dangers out there. Some older people are not even aware or take risks that they shouldn't. Always use caution when using sites like Facebook.

Facebook is ALREADY a dangerous site, just like any other social networking sites. But the danger of using this social networking site defends on how its members are using it. It is just similar to the risk that our parents used to say, "Don't talk to strangers."

Well... For one thing... ANYONE can look at your profile! Anyne in the whole world! They can find out who you are, where you live, your email, your phone number, ANYTHING! Its dangerous.... but FUN! Facebook can be dangerous if u give away ur personal information to random people. or, if u don't adjust ur privacy settings, anyone can see who u r ur pictures, ur wall, and everything like that. in terms of posting dangerous things.

It's already dangerous since your images and information is shown to everyone who uses the internet, unless you make your profile so private to strangers. Another thing is adding random people, that adds up to the risk of you getting yourself harmed, maybe not physically, but verbally and emotionally. Here in ireland 3 girls from my town have also been killed now because some random pedophile got them via facebook.

I think any data or pic or blog or whatever you put in facebook or any other sites is really posing as a threat in your future.Yes facebook lets you connect with others even if theyre far away. But there are dangerous peple lurking in the dark just waiting for the right timing when they can blackmail, harass, exploit you using the articles you have posted online esp your facebook account.
