While I'm browsing for articles, I found this article as my title above. To my suprise a lot of them believe Jesus and Mary Magdalene are married. What make me sad is even a fellow Christian believe it. Dan Brown sure have succeed in deceiving people to believe Jesus and Mary Magdalene are married by his novel Da Vinci Code. But I just cannot understand why our fellow Christian also believe it. I like to know what do you think about this topic.

Actually...Dan Brown wasn't really deceiving anyone. In the very front of the book, there was a note made that specifically pointed out that the things written in the book were purely fiction and nothing more. The thing is that people took the story at face value even though the author pointed out that it was fiction. The thing that makes me so mad is that people use the "evidence" of the painting of the Last Supper to prove their case. However, the painting of the Last Supper was well over 1000 years after the actual Last Supper was recorded in the Bible. Da Vinci wasn't at the Last Supper. Even if he did paint a woman beside Jesus, it doesn't mean that's actually the truth.

No one really knows what the truth is. But I dont understand why people have taken this question as controversy and anti-christianic. If Jesus is married does that makes him less important to all?

No I don't believe they were married. If they were the Bible would talk about it. I have never read Da Vinci Code or any of the books that use a BIBLICAL figure and make a fairy tale out of it. That would be the same as taking a glass of water and putting just a little poision in it. Would it be safe to drink?

I haven't read Da Vinci Code and neither do I watch the movie. You are right. The moment of comfusion in our faith will act just like a poison.

Greetings, Thank you for your concern about this article you had found. I can indeed tell you, as a Christian myself, I do not believe that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were ever married. I cannot say I have seen this article but I do know the Bible quite well enough that this article is not backed up by the Word of God. I'm not certain the motive behind this person writing this article other than what you have mentioned it is a way to deceive many good followers of Jesus. The two main reasons I am not pulled into this article is because of my close relationship with Jesus and knowing that He is indeed the Son of God. With the Holy Spirit one can decern what is true or not true about Jesus because the Holy Spirit will not give us anything other than the truth. So even if I did read it, it would not move me to think otherwise. May God bless you and have a wonderful day.

Sometimes curiousity really didn't do some good. Like our good fellow Christian, by being curious and read the articles about this topic and then they find out their faith have been shaken really bad. We see nowadays, a lot of Christians loose their faith easily. By fiction, money and loves. Let us all pray to our fellow Christians that lack in faith so their faith will be strengthen.

It frustrating that your fellow Christian believes in this whole thing, its just an imagination of an author whose self interest is to have money. I can say that the Last Supper as contended by Brown has no historical fact whatsoever as you said so. All these are just hoax and has no SOLID evidence whatsoever. And of course, I don't believe it.

It look that you have uncertainty in this issue. Are you a Christians? If you are a Christians, in the Bible have a lot of evidence that Mary Magdalene is not in the last supper painting just unlike what Dan Brown said. Even though it is not mention that they are not married, but it is also not mention that they are married. So the logic here, if you are not pronounce married to someone that means you are not married. You for sure cannot be pronounce not married with all the girls you close with. So that is why I believe Jesus and MAry Magdalene are nt married.

Why would this make you sad?

I think all of us Christians should be sad about this. The Christians faith have been stands strong for thousands of years and have been the backbone of the rules and regulation for many countries. The Christians was stronger in the olden days, willing to fight and die for their faith. Their faith are hardly shacken even by war. But now, Christian can easily be shaken off their faith by a fiction novel and a drwaing which didn't have any basis. Very concern about what will happen to Christian in the future, this make me really sad as a Christian.

No, and there's nothing in Scripture that says they were. The church is the bride of Jesus Christ.

My Art History teacher (not a Christian), was ranted and raving about this very subject in a lecture not too long ago. She was showing "The Last Supper" by Da Vinci, and she obviously felt a very strong need to point out that the disciple next to Christ looked feminine because he was John and John was young and ALWAYS portrayed as slightly feminine, and not because he was Mary Magdalene. Then she tells us that Dan Brown made up a bunch of hogwash, made millions of dollars, and made her life as an Art History teacher very miserable. As a Christian, I just avoided Da Vinci code because I knew it very anti-Christian. But now I also know that it's not based in historical fact either. I have no problem with authors making stuff up, but I have a problem with really naive people who take what they say as fact. It's fiction. Nothing fiction should be taken at face value until you've done your research.

I also do the same. I avoid reading the book and not even care about the movie. I respect your history teacher for stand up and against the Dan Brown claim even though she is not a Christian. It something noble to did. Then I wonder why Christians can even believe it when the non-Christian not. That is something have happen in Christians nowadays. Lack of knowledge and easily deceive by a fiction story.

I think she made the point as an art lover and not as a defender of any faith... but I also respect her for it. Historians and art lovers agree with her though... Dan Brown made most of his "facts" up. Too many people have taken him seriously. The part that really bugs me about this is that people really should be smarter than this. I love to read and I adore books, especially 100% made-up high-fantasy books... but I've never taken something I've read in fiction and believed it to be 100% true fact immediately. There are fiction books where authors do their research, and their facts are accurate... but I always research to make sure before I believe it. No one should be deceived so easily.

Well the Christians Church never claims it so I think I don't believe in it. But if you have a suspicious mind, you might think that this is true. This is what I though why Da Vinci thought of it. Da Vinci lived years after Christ walked the Earth. So he never really witnessed it by himself. But if you will look at the events written in the Bible, you might come to think that there was a relationship between Mary Magdalene and Jesus. As we all know, Jesus saved Mary Magdalene from the people's stone. When Christ was carrying the cross, all the disciples hide in fear except Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. They followed Jesus to Golgotta, where He was nailed to the cross. And much more interesting was the resurrection of Christ. Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene among anyone else. Even before her Mother Mary. Well I think these events, what made Da Vinci thought of Christ married to Magdalene.

Actually, there really isn't that much "evidence" in the Bible to even raise an eyebrow concerning a relationship between Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Mary Magdalene is not named in the Bible as the person who was going to be stoned after being caught in adultery. The Bible gives no name. It just says "a woman". The Catholic Church is the one that claimed that person was Mary Magdalene. Secondly, Mary Magdalene and the mother of Jesus. There were others who were there at the cross too, including John, who was always called the Apostle whom Jesus loved. The picture you get of Mary Magdalene is more of a motherly type love toward Jesus, not a romantic love.

i don't believe this kind of doctrine. Mary is conceived by the holy spirit to bore child name JESUS. Christians who try to make believe that they are Christians at heart but believe to this doctrine is what REAL CHRISTIANS call as FALSE CHRISTIAN. it is said in revelation that whoever adds or subtract GODS holy word shall be thrown to the lake of fire where there he be crying out loud but there will be no salvation at all. be wise like a serpent when it comes to the word of GOD. we are given the mind to think and balance everything and the eyes to see, read and witness things...we must stand to what is right.

I agree with what you have to say. However, it is Mary Magdalene that the person on here and the DaVinci Code is referring to, not Mary the mother of Jesus. That being said, I do agree with you about the importance of being wise when it comes to what is said in the Bible. The sad part is that so many Christians have no idea what the Bible says so many times because they don't take the time to read it often at all. The Word of God is able to transform the lives of those who read it because God speaks to us through it!

No, I dont believe and think Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married. It is just another rumor, trying to put down a person highly praised. That is stupid and it is not in the bible. People who believe that dont really know Jesus. They may be calling themselves Christians or may claim that they know Jesus but I doubt that.
