Do you spend money at Craft Fairs?

I know a lot of you are crafters yourselves, and go to these Craft Fairs to try to sell stuff... but I'm wondering how many of us go to Craft Fairs to shop? We had our big Fall Festival this past weekend. Aside from food, games, and rides like a typical carnival, they also have a huge craft tent, a merchant tent, and a booksale. We go to this Festival every year, but normally we do not buy much. Most of our money usually goes to the games, rides, and food. But this year we had a bit extra to spend, and we did buy a few little things. Each of my kids got a handmade pillow that they just love. My daughter's is Hannah Montana, the youngest son got a Fireman pillow, and the other 2 boys got superhero ones (the oldest did not want a pillow). I also bought my daughter a headband with a reversable design.. the slip comes off and turns around.. pretty cool. There were lots of other things I would have liked to buy, but I cannot have knick knacks in this house or the kids will play with them. When my kids are older I will certainly be spending a whole lot of money at these craft fairs!! When was the last time you were at a Craft Fair?

All the time, and way too much of it. I love all the nifty decor they have, I got this great shelf, I use it for a dagger I have, it is a silhouette of a dragon. And another shelf, made by the same guy that is children in exploration, and it holds some knick knacks I have. and all sorts of other fun stuff, my favorite though is the Nanaimo bars from Davy's kitchen, I get at the Farmers Market every so often. Cheers.

I think it is just flipping amazing what some people can do with things. There is one outfit around here, that makes all sorts of stuff out of cast iron. Toilet Paper holders, fire pits, key hooks, like everything.

Is a craft fair anything like a flea market? I've been to outdoor markets but none with rides and fun stuff. I would definetly spend money at a craft fair I love crafting and anything D.I.Y so i would probably be broke by the event.

A flea market is usually people selling used stuff.. a craft sale is strictly things you've made by hand.

I actually did a craft fair this weekend and it went okay. I also bought a few things! LOL....cuts down on the profits! But it's nice to share some of it with other crafters. We didn't have alot of crafters show up. Sales have been down and it's too expensive to try to keep an inventory and do the shows if you don't have good sales!

I think most of the crafters at our festival do pretty well. The festival gets a huge draw.. all different kinds of people go, families, older folks.. and they all browse the crafts and almost everyone usually buys something.

We have a local craft fair and I love to spend money at it. I like to support local trade around our area, so I always buy things for my friends and family's birthday and christmas presents. I think that it is really good to be prepared, and I know that some of the people who have the stalls at craft fairs like that don't really have all that much of an income to boast about, as many of them are self employed. I used to do crafts when I was a little younger, to support me through college, but I didn't really earn all that much money through it, so I had to give it up soon after I started it. It was because people weren't very supportive of me and nobody bought my goods, even though the people who did buy them didn't think that there was anything wrong with them- and some even recommended them to their own friends and families!

I don't have a lot of money to spend, and sometimes it bugs me that I'm spending money on something I could make at home.. but I am not crafty and couldn't actually do it myself.. so if I like it I have to buy it.

In our area they are usually held in Nov and early Dec just before the holidays. we used to go to them until my job started requiring me to work weekends. Now that I can't go, the rest of my family just ignores them. A lot of the time when we did go before, we would leave without anything; simply because there was nothing that we were interested in or wanted. But, occasionally, one of us would find a special treasure to take home with us.

I never buy anything at craft fairs. If I had to give someone a gift then I might find something unique there if I was looking for a gift. But as far as something for me I tend to look at the things and craft fairs and think how I could just save the money and put a little effort forth and make the craft thing myself. But then I get caught up in other things and never get the craft made. Oh well if I dont make it dont really need it that bad so I guess it saves me time and money on the materials I would have to buy to make these things anyway.

I don't go to craft fairs very often. When I do go, I usually don't buy much. If there is a seller that makes handmade edible goods then I will usually sample and purchase their item.I love buying jewelry too. I make jewelry but I don't do metalwork. So, If there is a great jewelry artist that does metalwork I will usually browse and possibly purchase from them.

I love to go to craft shows every year just to see the stuff they have. I like to look at the Christmas decorations because I love everything Christmas. Last time I went I bought this braided dog toy and my dogs loved it! They played with that little thing for months til it finally broke. So, that dollar was worth it!
