I heared from our local news earlier, researchers have learned that drinking of 4 to 5 cups of brewed coffee can reduce for about 40 percent rhe risk of the development of cancer cells for oral, brain and skin cancer. some symptoms of Oral cancer are swelling, unexplained bleeding and lumps, while brain cancer symptoms are swelling in the brain cause by the tumor, dizziness, clumsiness and seizures. and skin cancer is pearly bump on the sun skin exposed in the sun. though, coffee is good, too much intake of caffeine is still harmful to our health. who among my fellow lotters love to drink coffee? how many cups of coffee to you take for a day?

I don't know about that research. If it's true, then it's good news to coffee drinkers. I'm a coffee drinker myself. I drink at least 3 cups a day.

"Cups" is a rather vague measure.. I have a cup of brewed coffee with my breakfast every morning but my cup holds more than 1/2 a pint. (I've no idea what that is in metric - work it out) So maybe my one cup of coffee equates to the researchers 4 or 5 cups if they are talking about teenzy weenzy coffee cups that hardly hold more than a couple of mouthfulls. Nice to know that my morning coffee is helping to stave off the dreaded cancer...

I usually drink 1-16oz mug ina day. Sometimes 2 of them. Throught the summer ive tried not to drink coffee everyday. I just dont like getting into habits. During the summer sometimes i would make coffee the night before then put it in the frig or i would drink iced tea. I believe 1-16 oz is enough, but not too much.

I love to drink coffee, but I only take one cup a day. I just need it to keep me awake all throughout my shift. That is because I work at night.

Wow my husband will be all right then because he drinks a lot of coffee. I probably drink between 4 - 5 cups a day. However, I prefer diet coke and pepsi max. I tend to drink an awful lot of diet coke because I prefer cold drinks. I do love a nice cup of coffee though. Coffee is lovely in the morning because it helps to wake you up. Unfortunately farmers do not get a fair pay for it. That's why I tend to buy Fairtrade because it is best for the farmers. Otherwise it is not fair. Thanks for sharing this news I will tell my husband to keep drinking his coffee. He is a coffee connoisseur and drinks about 10 - 15 cups a day. I don't know if this is healthy or not though.

Honestly, I never drink coffee because I read some years back about the association of coffee to throat cancer, so since then I stopped drinking coffee. But I am not sure if there are some new research studies lately that present evidence on the health benefits of coffee.

That would be a good news but for long time it is also mention from other study that coffee have anti-oxidants properties so cancer is also includes. That would be better but any excesses in the intake would be abuse and in other research too much coffee especially those with caffeine would be bad to health and I think minimal intake would be better than excessive.

4 to 5 cups of coffee seems like a lot, I drink 3 cups first thing in the morning and typically won't drink another cup. Maybe I will now. There are just so many substances that can cause cancer, it is a good idea to do what ever you can to help your chances. For example I only use natural deodorant from Varsity Naturals, you can check them out at http://www.teendeodorant.com

I think coffee also helps with digestion. Anyway, I rarely drink coffee cause I'm an insomniac and drinking coffee will only make my sleeping problems worse. However, I do drink coffee when I need to wake myself up. I guess that now I have a new reason to drink coffee ^_^

I did a research about coffee, its true that it can reduced the risk of cancer but only 2-3 cups daily is recommended. Too much is something is not good either. Coffee is also anti-aging. I don't drink coffee that much though, coz i really couldn't go to sleep.hehehe Everytime i'll go to coffee shop i prefer decaf.

That is interesting. I did not know that. When I was small, my family used to drink brewed coffee during most meals and snacks. I even use it as soup, to eat together with rice if I did not like my viand. I stopped drinking coffee during my teens then a few years back, I came to love coffee again, but this time, instant coffee. I was drinking about 5-8 cups a day. My sweat and urine had become dark in color and it had a different smell. I incurred stomach problems and nervous tension. Since then, I stopped drinking coffee and I started feeling better. I wonder if that study goes true for instant coffee as well, but I guess I won't be drinking coffee again, even for that study.

i would take it as a possibility. Because coffee has an antioxidant, and antioxidants keep the cells not oxidized hence, no destruction of the cell. However, to take 4-5 cups is quite alarming. BEcause it will make the person dehydrated, heart rate will be fast, and some more other complications. It should be taken regularly, and remember, too much is always wrong.

Hmm... I wouldn't really rely on 'studies' for now because they haven't clearly determined the cause of cancer in the first place which would mean that if they don't know the cause, then perhaps it's difficult to know how to cure or avoid them, right? But coffee is an antioxidant or something. Perhaps it's good for something. But for me, drinking coffee would deprive me of sleep, which is why I always stay away from it.

A cup of coffee in the morning is a must for me as well as my wife. That is the minimum a cup a day. Sometimes when we feel like to drink, we will have another cup in the afternoon but not so often. That will be the maximum. My wife is addicted to coffee. She cannot miss the morning coffee or else the whole day she will suffer with minor headache...do you think this is serious ?
