Manager here for 2 days and the place is TOTALLY different!

I am really tee-d of at this right now, and I have to try to put it into words. I would like your opinions on it. I have been at this dry cleaning store branch for about 3 years. I have outlasted 2 managers. My first manager was fired for not doing the deposits (I never figured out if she stole the money or was just being lazy with going to the bank.. Some mysteries are better kept a mystery, I guess). The 2nd manager, who was a GODSEND (seriously), super sweet, great with customers, extremely personable, older, hardworking, and just a wonderful lady (a second mom to me!) had to have vertebrae surgery - and it put her out of the workforce permanently. Which is totally sad. So, this new girl was hired in as the manager. Keep in mind that at this point, I am still the part-time evening employee at this store. She has worked for this company for about the same amount of time as me (3 years, or so she said) but at a different location, one in a city away from this one. At the same time, I have *switched* positions in the company - meaning I will get paid more, but will still be occasionally working at this location (I won't be spending as much time here as I used to, however). So. Here is my predicament. This new, younger manager (about my age) has been the manager her for TWO days and almost EVERYTHING in this store is switched around. Where things are located. She even told me that she'll be making a few changes in how we do things, and that I should do the same. I told her in all honesty that it's going to be like teaching an old dog new tricks. Not to mention the fact that I think it's totally disrespectful of her to act like she's so high on her horse that she needs to change around the store, despite the fact that me and the other 2 girls who have been working here, are totally used to it. So my solution to this problem? Is simply to be totally ignorant of her new choices of things going on in the store and continue to do things as I am used to. Because I don't feel like it's fair at ALL for this girl to come in for 2 days (so far) and totally re-arrange what we, and ESPECIALLY me, are used to. Am I being close minded? How do you handle this?

Although I would understand the new manager's intention to make new changes, to create her sense of impact and improvement in the position, I think 2 days is just too fast, too soon. I would think that the employees should have been consulted first to get their 'buy in' to these changes. Change is difficult by itself, unwilling participants to these changes are even more difficult. It's been a few days since this discussion, I don't know who gave in first, but I hope it's been 'easier'.

Haha good response. I was pretty unwilling at first. I still do things my own way (the best that I can), and let her do her thing. There's nothing I can do, really (except come on and complain on MyLot lol)

Dear friend, May be I feel there should be a General manager to manager all these managers. Still if some of them find it difficult to get well, I hope it would affect the entire unit. May be time would take to learn through mistakes and not to repeat those mistakes.

That's tough and I honestly wouldn't know what to do. I just hate it though when people have power trips because they're a manager or something. If I were you, I would start looking for another job and let the higher ups know that she's changing everything around thus making you inefficient, which slows you down and will not be able to do your job well. You're not gonna be happy there - but you still need the job. So just say your piece to the higher ups, start looking for a job aggressively (don't let any co-worker know), and hopefully you find something. Good luck!
