what's with the star on top of the name?

i am new here guys pls help.. please answer some of my questions: what is the significance of the star on top of the names of some members of this site? what the difference yellow, red, gray stars? when will i get or have my own star?? thanks^^

those stars are reputation stars. you'll get those when you reach 100 rank,that's the number right next to your username here. we can get those by those other members who rate our posts.you see those + - ! signs at the end of each post we make? that's where others rate us,and we'll never know who and what rates do we get. just put your cursor above every star and you'll see what ratings they have.

now i get whats the star mean^^ ..thnx guys.. but what about the NUMBER after your username? is that the number of times you started a discussion?

No, chubie, the NUMBER is your rating. It shows the level of a user's activity on myLot. For example, for you it says you have only 6 responses/discussion started. You can read here to find out more about user ratings and myLot reputation: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx#1

Hey it’s shown your rating which indicated by star with different colors with your name. Yes its importance is very much in mylot. If your rating is higher then you get good earning in day in mylot. I am also tried to improve my rating here. In that time my current rating is 8. And after sometime it will be 9 soon. I think now you understand that what is the meaning of this star sign and what is importance.
