After having to dash off to my daughters two weeks ago when she was in early labour we eventually had lift off on Tuesday 21st when little Olivia came into the world.
I am now back home and missing her already!
Thus is the fifth of my 10 grandchildren that I have been in the delivery room with when born, a very moving experience.
HAve any of you other grandmothers out there witnessed the birth of their grandchil/ren?

Hiya chem,
Have not witnessed any other except my own and I was out to the World in one of them but I soon knew about it when I came round and he was there crying so loud he had all the Babies in the Nursery crying in sympathy with him.
It must be wonderful to witness someone else´s though.
Olivia is a lovely name glad she has come to no harm.

Hiya chem,
Over a week old already? That is going very quickly time does fly and only too quick.
In next to nothing you will see her changing so quickly.
I held a Baby in my arms a few months back and I could not forget that feeling of it like being a Mom all over again. I had not held a Baby for years I can tell you that. The last one before that they gave her to me and she stopped crying every time they passed her on to me. She cried her eyes out with everyone else except me. Perhaps she could see right through me they know every trick these little uns don´t they?

Congrats to you grandma!! I am not a grandma yet, but my mother was in the delivery room with me when I had both of my sons. We lived too far away for her to come in when my daughter was born. I am adopted and my mom couldn't have children, so we thought it would be a great idea to ask her to come in the room when the boys were born. To this day she can give you every little exact detail of what happened both of the times. It was a wonderful experience for her - she brags about it every chance she can...lol

All of my were C-sections as well. I think the rules differ in the states than in your country. Actually I think they vary from state to state here. My oldest was an emergency C-section and they told my mom that she might have to leave. I guess because it was an emergency and the baby was in distress. I guess they were preparing her just in case something might have happened with me and that is why they said she might have the leave. They never said anything to my husband so....who knows. Everything obviously turned okay and she was able to see the whole thing. When they asked my husband to cut the cord he turned to my mom and said "you can have the honor of cutting the cord". The next day I asked why he didn' want to and he said...."you should be glad I didn't throw up in the delivery room". LOL He doesn't do very well with the site of blood.

Congrats on your Granddaughter! I'm not a grandmother yet but I would like to be there if either of my girls requests me to be there when they deliver. Though I did witness my friend from HS give birth to her daughter, as she hid the pg & I took her to the hossy when she was in labor.
