Okay, I know a lot of people who struggle with English. I want to start some discussions about some basic English lessons. I want to know if anyone would be interested. I want to talk about some real basic stuff that might help those who use English as a second language and perhaps strengthen those who are native English speakers.. anyone interested?

Is it for free or for a fee? Any way a good thought. Well appreciated and may your tribe increase. What ever for good of mankind is well appreciated and God will really bless such people. Wish you all the best.

That sounds great! The more the merrier! I am thinking we can all pitch in with some different things. For instance, the use of apostrophes and such will help us all understand and be understood as well!

Apostrophoes, where, and how? Speaking of where and were.... here's a nifty little lesson. A lot of people tend to mistake where and were, their and there... I do it myself if I'm not attentive. The trick is simple. Where and there refer to location. (side note: were is the past tense of the verb 'to be' wherease their is the possessive pronoun in the third person plural). Since where and there are adverbs of location, they have the word 'here' within their spelling. :) Hence, since there is the word 'here', which is also an adverb of location, then anything which has 'here' in it would be an adverb of location. Hence where and there = location.

That's a very good idea, Macdingo. So, we can feel like everyone of us is back to school again accept this time is in Mylot. I missed a lot of my school day memory and welcome your ideas a lot. It's really very helpful to those who want to upgrade their English knowledge but don't have the chance to get it from their former school, due to many reason. please post here and let us know when you going to begin your lesson, teacher.

the best way to learn a language is through practise. I teach English to non native speakers, and very often I do not know anything of their language, and its because I want them to learn the old way by just walking and speaking the language - no translations. That's how I studied French and Italian.

I think it's a great idea! There are a lot of users who don't speak English very well, they all would benefit from that lessons. What is the interest under wich you want to start the lessons?

It's a very kind offer and I sincerely wish it will go a long way. I've read several discussions here where members would excuse themselves for not being very fluent in English. Salute to you!

Hello Macdingolinger. I think that's a great idea. Some people who don't use English as their native language actually put native English speakers to shame so this might be more beneficial to native English speakers Joking aside there are a lot of people who will welcome this and benefit from it, it's a great way of helping others
