Just because you CAN doesn't mean you MUST!

Well, the 500 posts are up, so I can paste now. Is that it? Or are there any other privileges waiting at higher "scores"? I will contain myself and NOT paste in the entire contents of the Bible. And am I satisfied with my star? Well no! I am really not that nice! It isn't a reflection on my personality. I should be a 6 at best. Time to start a few more arguments and annoy people. Get that star down to a reasonable level. Isn't this what mylot is all about? There just isn't enough discussing going on! It was never supposed to be a question and answer site, but that is what it has become. If we all started arguing with each other, the discussions would be much more interesting, and what's more, our earnings would increase! It is time to get nasty. Don't you agree? Are we just being too nice? Can you be mean?

Petro, sometimes I think I should also be a less star but sometimes I think I should be a ten for being 100% true. But truth hurts and people hit the minus more than hitting the plus! You can always copy paste content that you've made though! :D

Where have you been hiding lately, my darling Val? You need to get on here more, so that I have someone to play with, and then both of our earnings (amongst other things) will increase!

The truth sure hurts some people around here. Unfortunately they tend to read what they want to hear and not what is actually posted!

I have been pretty observant during my stay here on myLot and have noticed that is has become a quick simple yes or no and thanks. This was not the initial intention. I am one that truly enjoys the interactions and if I have something viable to re comment even if the discussion was not started on my end I certainly will do that. However It has been a good 4 weeks that I have noticed either no absolute response to comment or just simply thanks for responding. Great leap for all to reach the over 500 or more.

That's the point - "their discussion" isn't theirs anymore as soon as it is posted. It's open to all members to respond as they feel fit. The more the merrier. A few people here are a little too cosy in their small circles!

Well, this discussion is going quite well so far! Am I showing you all the way to go? Mylot wont get any better unless WE make it better. @hardworkinggurl, I know you can make good discussions! We all have to try a little harder and get mean occasionally.

I know what you mean by mean sometimes although many members feel that unless you agree or have to something to say you are then not welcomed to their discussion and well I suppose they have it all wrong with regards to quality.

For someone with a critical mind, willingness to be open to the opinions of others, you do not deserve a 6. You should bet something better. I can understand your exasperation. Some of them think that if others can get away with it, then they should get on to the bandwagon. On the other hand many members seem to prefer responding to questions which fo not need much thinking. A simple answer, or a cut and paste job. This encourages more similar postings. Can I be mean, provocative, or obnoxious? I certainly can, bur I prefer adopting a nice approach to discussions. Nevertheless at times I start off by appearing to be mean, to see the reaction of the reader. I have noticed that there are people who do not read till the end. I am game for a healthy discussion.

@purplealabaster, Am I guilty of that? If so please forgive me.

And then there are others that will not only read to the end of the discussion but also read all the responses (and more than likely add at least a comment or two within several response boxes) before responding to the discussion in their own response box.

That's good, I'll be looking out for your posts. Thinkers and critics should work together. A lot of people wont read to the end of this discussion for sure! It's too long and and has some "big" words that will put many members off!

LOL! I really like your unique perspective and take on the whole star issue - most people want higher stars, and here you are saying that you deserve a lower one! I have noticed lately that the participation seems to have dwindled. There are a ton of "new" discussions started each day, but there seem to be a lot less members interacting within the response boxes on the discussions and original posters do not seem to be commenting back to responses on their discussions, which pretty much renders them "non-discussions". Can I be mean? Yes. Will I be mean? It depends on what you are going to do for me, and if you are going to pretend not to like it!

Well, I have tried to help out and let people know when they are posting things that are violations of the Guidelines, although I do try to do it in a nice manner, and I have gotten crap for it. Not only do we lose our posts and do not earn anything, which is kind-of a waste of time if you are here to make money, but also people start calling you the "myLot police", etc. and negatively rating you. I have enough stuff in my life to deal with right now, and I come on here to have fun and earn a few pennies in the process. It is not worth all the negativity. The "funny thing" that I have noticed lately, though, is that since several of the people that normally help out the newer users and try to guide them in the right direction are not doing so, there has been a ton more crap on here, and it is really difficult to find things to respond to, especially when you are looking for a good discussion, which means back and forth interaction (yes, I realize you know that, but it seems there are many on here lately that do not). I have also noticed that there seems to be more people complaining that they are not finding interesting discussions to respond to ... perhaps because nobody is helping to weed out all the similar/duplicate and non-discussion posts?

Participation is at rock bottom! It's Do you like this, Do you like that - Yes or No type questions. How can we participate if the topics are rubbish? I think the only way to improve it is too shake the members up a little. A little meanness all round is required. Just tell people to their face that they are posting garbage!

Yes, many older names are missing. I think they have been swamped by the newbies. A myLot police force isn't a bad thing if they have some real powers. Call them voluntary moderators or something nice and it could work for everyone's benefit. But they would have to remove duplicates and unintelligible posts immediately, and perhaps enforce some temporary bans when people post multiple times in a short period. I hope the admins are following this.

Absolutely correct! But don't you enjoy a good conversation? We need to discuss or argue things out otherwise it's just hello - goodbye!

There is a difference between being polite and still disagreeing with someone and being mean and nasty. I don't think that Peter really wants us all to be rude and nasty to each other, although I could be wrong. What I think he means, and what many of us have been saying for a while, though, is that a good discussion involves back and forth interaction. When you disagree with someone, then there is often a greater opportunity for back and forth interaction than when you agree with everything a person is saying. That does not mean that we can't agree with people, either, but I think that both agreement and disagreement are what makes a discussion good and interesting.

hahaha, i dont get your point really. i joined here with and only with my pure thoughts and feelings, therefore, I guess i didnt have to actually control myself from doing this and that because at the very first time I posted in a discussion, it is purely true. Now I am having doubt about your real intention here, but as they say, it is of our own personal choice and democracy, so it's just about respecting.:)

WELCOME TO MYLOT!!! Since you want your 8 to drop to a 6, I hit the neg button in my attempt to help you!!! YES, I can be mean & NO, I don't think we are being too nice!!! Nobody enjoys visiting a site where there is nothing but fighting. I'm happy with my earnings just like they are!!!! I feel sorry for you if you can't think of enough nice things to say in order to keep your earnings growing!!! All it take is just a little imagination!!!! I hope you soon see your way into playing NICE!!!!!!

Thanks for the neg! But I didn't say fighting! Arguing means taking BOTH sides in order to expand and prolong a discussion. Isn't that the way politicians run our countries?

I'm also tempted to go on a grammar and spelling rampage sometimes, but seeing as I'm not always perfect, and sometimes people just making typing errors, I should try to resist.

I positived you. I was going to apologise, but then I read your bit about getting arguments going, so maybe I won't. And on being mean, I'm not usually mean just for the sake of it, but really... some people just deserve it. And even then, I'm not often mean, humour tends to work better. After all, if people are just plain ignorant, it's better to try to engage them in discussion rather than just tell them they're morons.
