What is the difference?

My laptop has yet again decided to go belly up on me. I am looking on ebay to buy a Windows Xp disk. What is the difference between the home edition and the professional edition????

you can't buy windows xp any longer, microsoft as officially annouced that their are not shipping windows xp any longer and the security updates for xp will be ended on sep 2014. buy latest version of windows 7 with xp compatibility mode. you can check more details at official microsoft site.

i know that but you can still buy genuine copies of XP from EBAY!!!!! That is what i said im going to do as my laptop is 6 years old so it wont cope with windows 7!!!

ok....difference between them is professional as multi computing for business and home edition don't have. if your looking version for laptop then home edition is enough, professional gives you advance setting like linking between multi computers and even controlling the other computer through one.

i think the professional edition has more programs and services that are used by companies, that's why it's called professional.

Windows home edition is designed for suiting home needs. While professional edition is for buissness needs. Any way both windows is good for home usage.
