According to the Bible, Heaven is a place, but it's a place populated by spiritual and not physical bodies. In our limited physical perception, that could be taken as a state rather than a physical place, but I believe that it's both. If that's not confusing enough, God is a Spirit and yet He has revealed Himself to us in a physical form, Jesus, and continues to show Himself to us through our spirits, but often manifested in the physical world by working what we call miracles and intervening in our lives in other ways.

Heaven is often spoken of as if it is a place but I believe that it's more correct to think of it as a state of existence. Just as we talk about people who are no longer suffering from a disease at the moment as being "in remission" or of work that is continuing as being "in progress", so we also call the state of extreme happiness as being "in heaven". Because "heaven" was once imagined to be somewhere in the sky above us, we also sometimes refer to the sky (especially the sky with stars at night) as "the heavens". "The heavens opened" is also a commonly used poetic phrase meaning that it suddenly rained heavily.

In the Lord's Prayer there's a phrase that says, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." If things are being done, that sounds to be as though heaven is a place.

I agree with Peavey. I think it is both. As Owl said, Heaven is a place that we see as being in the sky. People usually say that Heaven is above us. But in reality, we are surrounded by the Heavens. In other words, Heaven is above us but since we live on a round planet, it is also under us, to our right and left. It is also relative. (For example, living on the moon, earth is above you while living on earth the moon is above you.) It is a state of mind because I'm sure some folks know what it feels like to be in Heaven right now. (In this case, Heaven is a place but not a physical place as we know it.) But it is also dimensional. We may be living amongst heavenly beings. One classic example is when Jesus describes the rich man in hell. The rich man looks up and begs Lazarus to let his servant give him some water. The man is in hell which is supposed to be underground, yet he sees a person who is in Heaven. Thus, Heaven can't be just up above us but could be in another dimension right beside us. I have a math book in storage describing other dimensions. There is also a book I can't think of now that describes beings in other dimensions. Thus, your question isn't something we can put our fingers on since it is so extremely complicated for beings like us. One more thing. I believe that everyone who responds to your discussion might be correct. That's how complex our universe and the non universe might be.

If you believe the Bible, heaven is a place, it states that He is preparing a place for us, a mansion with many rooms, and streets made of gold...there is also a place called hell...I would suggest finding a good, true local Christian church that can help you with this...but yes, Heaven is a place...

Hi Nickie81. Don't get confused. You are just right in time for today's Gospel reading. It tells about a story on heaven and hell. If you have a Bible you might want to read it and think about it or reflect on it. (Luke 16:19-31) If you don't have a Bible here is an online version: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+16%3A19-31&version=NIV I hope that will give light to what you are searching for. God bless!

Hello, Heaven, in my opinion a state, a state of mind. When you feel extremely satisfied with your life you are in heaven. When remorse torments your soul you are in hell. We really don't know whether there is any heaven or hell like state after life. Nobody knows actually. There is no need for conjecture while we, quite evidently can experience both in our life. Thanks. God bless you.

Heaven is a place where angels and saints found. We cannot see the heaven in our bold eyes even if we explore the whole universe. But with God's grace, one can see this beautiful and peaceful place. It a place where GOD and his angels are located and a state in the sense that you'll be raptured with profound peace and happiness.
