I have 3 of the most weird allergies that one could possibly have. I'm not allergic to any medication... or anything like that. I am allergic to 3 fruits in particular. Grapes... Watermelon... and Bananas... I like grapes and eat them from time to time... but only a few at a time. Watermelon... I hate anyway so that isn't such a big deal. But bananas... I LOVE!! And every time my grandmom makes banana pudding, I must have some!! Even with an itchy throat...(one of the side effects) I am happily munching on one of my favorite desserts!! Do you have any weird allergies??

My husband and I have some pretty weird food allergies too. I am allergic to anything in the onion family (scallions, leeks, chives, etc.). My husband is allergic to apples, kiwis, pineapples, raw carrots--and the list keeps growing! Mine is failry easy to manage, but his is tougher, especially because we don't know when a new fruit will cause him to have an allergic reaction. He never had these allergies as a child or young adult. Weird, huh?

O ok.. cooking two meals sounds like it could be quite tiring and annoying. Did your kids inherit any of you and your husband's food allergies??

Actually, eating at home is tougher--my kids prefer raw fruits and veggies, and my husband can't eat most of them, so either I make two meals or someone goes without (usually my husband). Because I have known about my allergy for a longer time, I have become used to always asking about onions when in a restaurant, and knowing how to order pretty safely, just in case.

Fortunatly I´m nor allergic too most of the things and none of the food I know. But I see around, in my own family, all kinds of allergies. The last one was my sister and a close cousin who are allergic to tomatoes. Now THAT is terrible. There are so many foods that beg for tomatoes.
Im sorry for youe allergy but maybe doctors can do something for it. Miracles are done now with allergies.
Take care!

You are blessed to not have any allergies. I went to school with one girl who was allergic to major foods like soybean and soybean oil... peanuts.. things like that. And she sufferred dearly. Tomatoes is one allergy I wouldn't mind having because I rarely eat tomatoes anyway... I rarely even eat ketchup. But my allergies are kind of minor and don't need medical attention once they flare up and I've been blessed to not have it flare up badly since I was a kid!

One fruit I am very allergic to is coconut. I have high blood pressure, and coconut is not good at all for that. If I take any thing that has coconut in it, my blood pressure goes up within seconds. I have to be very careful with things with coconut, milk, juice, cakes, puddings, any thing.

Wow.. I have a few family members who suffer from high blood pressure and things like high cholesterol. I, personally, do not like coconut.. so that could be something that I could live without. However, milk and cake!! That's torture!!

I have allergies to a certain kind of medicine which will make my mouth develop rashes. My friend's mother is allergic to diamonds. I was wondering if his father will be happy that he won't have to spend money on diamond rings on their wedding day, LOL!!!

I know a lot of people who are allergic to certain medicines. I don't like morphine myself because it burns. But, LOL OMG she's allergic to diamonds?? That is soooo weird and crazy!!

You are very lucky.. you know what?? I have no clue what it is in these fruits that bother me so. I never even have seen a doctor about it.. I just know from experience. They make my "throat itch" so to speak... and my nose feel stopped up. It even got so bad one time to the point where I broke out in hives!! So, I try to stay clear of these fruits any way that I can. However, I cannot resist my grandmother's homemade Banana pudding... made with real bananas... I suffer sometimes for it, but it's definitely worth it!!

I'm allergic to mangoes and pineapples. Both are fruits I love to eat. Now I can't eat these, even small amounts.

That is a blessing! Hopefully you will never come across anything that does cause an allergic reaction.

Hi. mrscallands22. That can be so miserable! Something you love so much can be a problem for you. My grandmother told me that I was allergic to oranges and tomatoes. I do notice that when I drink orange juice that has acid in it, I may get a small pimple or so. I wished that I had a snack to eat on!

Awww!! Well I hope that your allergy gets better and that you find something to replace that enjoyment you get from eating the food that you love. I eat what I want anyway!! lol

I kind of feel for you. I think I feel the same way you do about those three fruits. I enjoy grapes, but it's not a big deal. Watermelon, I can live without. But bananas? God no... I love them too. I can eat them for appetizer, main course, and dessert. You can do so much with bananas! I'm not allergic to any of them... I have no allergies actually. What I wanted to say, though, is that I have a friend who is allergic to the sun. He sneezes when the sun's rays hit him directly. That's a weird "allergy".

That is indeed a weird allergy. When you said that for some reason it reminds me of the movie.. "The Others".. I forgot what that disease is called..

Hello MRSCALLAND,
I have to tell that as far as i know, my immunitary sistem is strong enough and addapt to any fruit, medicine, vegetable, animal. Until now i do not know how it is to get an alergy, and i hope that i will keep doing this. I sow however some people reactions at alergies, and is not something nice :(
