Sometimes I Wish I Had A Commode

I do not wish to sound blase about people who HAVE to use a commode, I wouldn't wish that on anybody but sometimes, how I wish I had one downstairs.
I am sick and tired of traipsing up and down the stairs to the toilet. I'm convinced us women wee more when we get older..and I'm only 44. I could hold it in (steady!) for a lot longer when I was younger. How depressing!
Mum has her bathroom downstairs which is ALSO annoying for different reasons because I'm paranoid at waking my parents up when I traipse downstairs to their loo.
So, yes a comode would be lovely. Either that or a nappy that I could wee in to my heart's content and it never got wet.
Surely someone has to invent one of those?

Sometimes it would be SO easy just having a nappy to wee in wouldn't it!
I am grateful for being a man as it is pretty easy to find a nice bushy tree or a corner of a building to go behind at times when out in public.
One of those commodes would be awesome. Having someone push you around and being able to just go whenever. Sounds great to me!

We! Yep, I get it.
I can imagine you would have felt like an impostor in there in that ward. Really, it is fun to joke about using those commodes, but I would hate to be in the position where I had to use them.

A nappy would be rather bulky underneath our clothes but then again..who needs clothing? Just show off the nappy to everyone. Babies do it, why can't we? "We" haha, get it?
Commodes are a brilliant invention. However, I was rather miffed when I was in hospital a few months ago..as I got moved into a ward with ladies that were of a certain age, you get what I mean? I had no say in this whatsoever and what swung my decision to sign myself out (I didn't really need to stay a second night) was the ONLY way I could go to the loo was in a commode-type contraption with handles..you name it, this little room had everything for the old and infirm...which I'm not..so I got outta there quick! I felt a fraud being there, I really did.

Put it this way, when I sat on one (cos I was desperate) my feet were up in the air.
I know I'm only 5ft 4ins tall but I don't think I'm the only woman in the world that height. Couldn't wait to get outta there to be honest!

Hi Janey,
Some homes have downstaires loo as well as upstaires, it would be handy if all homes were built with the downstares loo as well, my friend has one downstares and one upstaires, it was very handy when she had a girls night in.

Hi Tamara! A friend of ours still lives with his parents and I actually envy him in a way because he's loaded (because he's no mortgage to think about), his parents are well enough and what a lovely home they are all living in. Not surprisingly, they had a loo and sink downstairs and I never got to see the bigger bathroom upstairs because there was no need for me to have to go up there!!

My gramma kept a mayonaiise jar under her bed. We were often warned not to go under gramma's bed. Never understood why until I was older.

Hi Janey,
I can somewhat relate to this. My apartment is set up so so weird. The living room and kitchen are upstairs and the bedrooms and bathroom is downstairs. I work nights and sit up late on the computer. Every time I have to pee, I have to run down the stairs and turn on lights and pass by my daughters room which is right next to the bathroom. I am always aware of her sleeping and don't want to disturb her. Plus it is just a pain having to run up and down the stairs.

The "running up and down the stairs" is the bit I don't like either but I guess it's keeping me fit..and you too I should imagine!

My kids tease me all the time about how often I have to go. But we have two bathrooms upstairs and one downstairs, so it isn't a problem.

Yeah but then I get in trouble when there isn't one!

You probably go more because you always have a loo nearby.

Hiya Janey,
Having Children does not help either as it weakens those systems of ours. But there are exercises to not cure it but alleviate it in part for some and for others a lot more.
So then you would not need a commode so much. I have got much better at that even when I sneeze so strongly it holds if you know what I mean.
I do some sort of yoga and tai chi exercises and for some reason all "those systems" started to regain their strength again.
I´m not quite over it altogether but I am working on it with diligence.
Some other great hints from others as well on this page
too.

I haven't got the patience to do yoga and tai chi but I'm pleased that you find it helpful.

Hiya Janey,
I am not good at doing any kind of yoga or tai chi that´s why I always practice when no one is around because their giggling distracts me and they make me laugh also. Does not take much to get me laughing so when I am on my own it´s much better. Don´t know how I have done it but it´s getting much better.
There are pelvic floor exercises that are not too gruelling for any of us to do. Troub
le is keeping the said exercises going and not getting bored. Will have to work on that one too.

I know what you mean. The first house we had the bathroom was downstairs and it was a bit of a traipse in the middle of the night. We were over the moon that the bathroom was on the same floor as the bedrooms in our next house, and now we live in a bungalow. I can't imagine having to find my way downstairs for the bathroom now - I think I would probably fall down the stairs..

My Dad goes on about bungalows all the time. I reckon he'd love to live in one. Mum's not so keen though!
Glad you like your bungalow, I bet it's ace!

hi Janey I know that feeling well as I used to dread long bus trips when the rest stops were few and far between as my bladder made me be in agony miles before we came to a stop. So whenever I got on a bus that did have a bathroom it was pure luxury.I really feel in our American homes we should have more than two bathrooms if there even just four people in the home. it was pure joy for me when my son and I had an apartment with two bathrooms as I the older person so often had to go and a lot too.We add other things that might not be so important but more bathrooms thats really a need.

Oh to have a toilet downstairs, that would be ace. We went to a house a few months ago and I was so envious. They had a little cloakroom bathroom (without a bath, just had a sink and toilet) plus a large bathroom upstairs that I never even visited. They had the room, you see. Not everyone does, unfortunately.

LOL! your talking about toilets um...well if your saying that you wish you had another toilet in the downstairs well yeah it is nice to have an extra bathroom in a more convent place.
Thankfully I have two toilets one upstairs and one downstairs it definitely makes things easier.

Sadly it's not just women who wee more as age beckons (and effects of constant medication) .... but I know how you feel. The daft thing is that all day long I work on the computer in the room next to the upstairs toilet (the only one in the house) and I barely need it. But the minute I spend some time down stairs you can bet I will costantly need to keep using the blinking thing. I've started to think it's a psychological thing which I somehow subconciously tell myself that I keep needing the bog when I am downstairs when in fact I don't.

You see, that's where an adult nappy where you could just piss yourself silly would come in very handy!
