My dog has Cushing's Disease and urinates on one spot on the carpet. We've been covering it with wee wee pads, but the urine often soaks through or she urinates off to the side. I'm wondering what is the best way to clean this. I have tried using Resolve, but it does not remove the stain, just makes it wetter.

By the way, goodluck. I wrote my answer and forgot to say this. This can be really stressful and upsetting, when your dog is weeing everywhere. I really respect that you are taking care of your dog and managing the disease. It is really admirable, and Im glad that your dog has you as an owner to be patient and still take really good care of her. Im sure you love her very much!

Thank you. We got ripped off big-time by our current vet, so we're taking her to a new one. I think it's disgusting that vets will take advantage of concerned owners taking care of their sick pets, but I suppose that's just life. At least I can make back some of those hundreds of dollars with cents I earn from myLot lol.

Dog urine is a hard thing to get out of carpets. The only thing that I have found that truly eliminates odor and stain is a Rug Doctor. I was skeptical of the rug doctor at first but after using one I invested in one. You can rent them from your local grocery store or hardware store. They come with a cleaning chemical, but i add some oxy clean to the solution and it works wonders. They are very expensive to purchase new. You can rent one for about 40 dollars a day. You could also look on Craigslist to see if anyone is selling a rug doctor. If your dog is going on the carpet a lot, I suggest you purchase one.

I think you can try carpet clean thats contain an enzyme to stop the odor and clean the spot. Thats quite expensive so I used EM4 thats usually used to make compost at home to remove the odor.

Hello Sir! Good day! How old is your dog? If your dog's age is below 1 or 2 years, you can still train your dog to go outside and urinate on bushes. I experienced that urinating thing but not cushing's disease. Here is a good solution, you can always put your dog outside whenever he/she has recently finished eating or drinking. just put her about 10 to 15 minutes after he/she have just finished eating or drinking. it is normal to dogs that they will feel that thing after eating or drinking. I think most of the dogs urinate on carpet because my dogs sometimes do it. The carpet seems to their bushes and good place for urinating to them. If you want to remove the stains, use a brush and a powder of soap. you have to be patient in brushing or scrubbing the stain. I know how it feels if our dog is like that. right? but it is our job to train our dogs. Any ways, how is your dog? is he/she is ok now?

I have heard that vinegar is good to use because they dont like the smell, and the vinegar kills the bacteria and germs. It removes the smell and makes it harder for them to find again. I would definately try this because it is a cheap rememedy and it couldn't hurt. I did this when I had a kitten and it worked awesomely. I would think it would work with dogs too, but you will have to test it.

I have had many dogs over the years, and unfortunately they all get old. When you have one that urinates on the carpet, we always used salt. You just get a box of regular table salt, and pour it over the wet urine. Has to still be wet for this to work. The salt soaks up the urine, and once it is dry and hard, you can break it up and then vacuum up what you can't pick up easily. This has worked for my family for years. Give a try and see how it works for you.
