Will you choose the lesser evil?

In life we are often given choices, the choice between good or evil... the choice between work or family, the choice on which softdrink brand to buy, or an iced tea over sodas, etc. I remember when it was election in the Philippines last May 2010, there is this one presidentiable who said, We have to make a choice, and we shall not go by the majority and settle for the lesser evil. I think he has a point there right? If it was you... when it comes to big decisions, in our lives and even in choosing our leaders, or even partners in life... would you settle for the "lesser evil" just because you "think" you were only given 2 choices - the bad and the lesser evil. For me, i would say i will NOT settle for anything less than my expectations. Its like when you pay for something, we want to get the best brand, we want the best of the choices laid out in front of us, right? so why settle for the lesser evil when we could have picked what we think is the "best"?

Yes, I agree with you. Sometimes something which is right for us is not always the majority, and sometimes majority itself shows us the best. So, choose whatever we want, not what has been dictated by others. "Lesser evil" is also determined by our choice, and our wisdom during our choosing, right?

If the choices are ONLY between a greater and a lesser evil, then, to go for the lesser is definitely a more logical and pragmatic approach. But then the question is, how do you distinguish the lesser from the greater if what we are talking about here is "evil"? Another thing, if there is a better choice and even a best choice, then, why would we even consider anything that is evil, may it be of a greater or a lesser degree. For me, it's beyond logic! So for as long as there are many choices, I will always go for the best. But if the question or situation boils down to only two choices and nothing more, like between the devil and the deep blue sea, I'll definitely go for the deep blue sea. I'll just then try my damnedest to swim afterwards!!! lol
