Soft contact lenses -- good for a year? Or maybe longer?

I own a pair of purple UV rave contacts that I rarely use only for cosplay, and myself being random in public... So I do not wear them that often maybe once or every other month. Now, other places that sell them says they're good up to a year. And it's going to be approximately more than a year this upcoming month. They're still good, I change the multi-purpose solution. So what should I really do? Should I throw them out soon? Or what? I'm a contact lens newbie -- those are my first ones I got last year. -_-" And I don't really want to let them go, but should I? I bought them online so I'm not so familar with wearing and disposing them. Can someone please shine some light on this situation? Thanks. :)

A pleasant day to you LifeGuru, In every things we use, there are always pros & cons - an advantages and disadvantes. Same in using a soft contact lenses, in using these, we should be extra careful. Since, we are using these for our eyes. And our eyes are one of the delicate part that comprise our face. In using a soft contact lenses, we should always consider to have a very clean hands before holding those lenses. Before wearing the lenses and insert those to our eyes, we should wash our hands. Same thing, when we will going to remove those from our eyes, we should wash our hands first. And during the times, you are not wearing your lenses, make sure that you put those in their designated cases with a right amount of solution. You can use the 3-in-1 solution if you wish to since they are also good (wherein, it is already complete). Then do place them in a cool dry place. Nonetheless, with regard to the contact lenses being sold now a days, the soft contact lenses that you have, must be check once in a while and change the solution where it was soaked since, it is one way to maintain and prolong the life your contact lense. Hence, if you feel some irritation in your eyes, better not to use your lenses again. Perhaps, try to change it for a new one. Just remember, safety first.

using a soft lense indeed is nice, If you have decided to use a contact lens, my advice, use soft lense based your needs and your budget. Disposable contact lense is the type most practical and you can throw it after use it. You can choose daily contact lenses (disposable), weekly and monthly. But do not let you forget to replace your contact lenses if the usage time limit has passed, because later it will feel more uncomfortable when used. Other types of contact lenses that you can use is "the frequent placement contact lens", namely contact lens that can be used in some time. Usually this type of contact lens usage time between 3 to 6 months. There was also the kind of "permanent contact lens". But should not conclude this type of contact lens can be used forever without being replaced. Typically, the contact lens of this type can be used within 1 year. In addition there are also contact lens type of Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP), namely in the form of rigid contact lenses (rigid), similar to a hard lens, but has the nature of a soft lens. RGP is convenient to use and even long-term use, can reach 4 years. Contact lenses of this type are made from silicone hydrogel material, allowing the cornea eyes "breathe" behind the contact lens. In addition, RGP can also help the lubrication of the eye so as not to get irritated, because the size is smaller than the cornea. This is also what makes RGP can be used in a long time.
