When I was in college I took a children's lit class. I found out that I loved a lot of the teen fiction. I really liked historical fiction. Anyway the other day I was at the library and saw a book about time travel. I started it last night! Boy is it ever good! Have you read teen fiction? Do you like or hate it?

Teen fiction is the majority of the books I read especially about girls my age as I was growing up I just love Kate Cann's books about teen girls from the UK and also Phyllus Reynold Naylor's (author of shilo) Alice series books about a girl in many different book goes from 6th grade all the way through high school. I grew up with these books as I grew up the character in the book grew up it seems what ever grade I was in the new book cam out and Alice the girl in the bok was in that grade. I love the books about teen fiction so much I think because I can relate to them so well.

I remember Shilo! I read a lot of books to my kids when they were in junior high. I know it wasn't popular to do, but they still loved it. One of my favorite memories was reading "The Glitch" with my son. It was a great read!

I actually never read much fiction that was specifically intended for teens, believe it or not. It was always either the kid/pre-teen stuff (Goosebumps, for example) or adult oriented stuff (Stephen King, for example) The onle "teen intended" book I remember reading years ago was one of RL Stine's Fear Street novels, "The Surprise Party". I probably read more but that's the only one that comes to mind right now.

Next time you go by the library you should check them out. They can be really good story lines and very enjoyable!

Maybe I'm making up for lost time since I was reading adult books when I was still in elementary school. I even had permission from the library to check out adult books. I do enjoy the YA books although the library sometimes put adult books in the wrong section. If you like something you like it so that's the important thing. I really love the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine. She writes books for adults too.

Yeah, I read books that I wasn't "supposed" to be reading too! (not for content, just by level!) But I had it in good with the librarian and she had learned my tastes! I do like YA books. I really need to read more...

For some reason, I like RL Stine's Fear Street series...I also love the Katy series (What Katy did, What Katy did at school & What Katy did next). I think that we never get too old for the teen fiction books.

I don't usually go for all the popular stuff. I don't know why, I just don't! Maybe it's because I am an "unpopular author" and I am overly sympathetic! lol!

I like the Tamora Peirce Tortall books. I'm halfway through Trickster's Queen right now. But if you really want to delve into obscurity, you should try to find the Roswell High series by Melinda Metz. There's ten books in the series, but they're near impossible to find. I also enjoyed Daughters of the Moon and Sweep. And I LOVE the Royal Diaries books, but I can't find them anymore.

I'm 19, so lots of adults technically still see me as a teenager. I think the majority of the books I read are YA (Teen Fiction), but I have a pretty good mix of children's books, middle-grade (pre-teen), and adult books going. Personally I believe that a good book is a good book no matter what age it was written for. I really like reading children's books because they're usually innocent, whimsical, and they make me happy. Getting into the teen fiction and adult fiction, books get really dark. Nothing wrong with dark... but I like a little light happy sunshine every once and awhile. I like a lot of teen fiction... and having been a teenager in high school more recently than a forty year old working mom... I relate to the characters in them a whole lot more than in adult novels. I also prefer the high fantasy genre, and most of the good books in that genre are in teen fiction. There's lots of adult novels, but they tend to get more dark and disgusting than I'd like to read.

Many teen series are very well written, and I do enjoy them. I have read all of Harry Potter, and the Eragon series (are these teen or tween?). Now I am starting the Twilight series, and my adult book club has picked Twilight as its book for this month. I have read some of the Goosebumps books, and may have to try the other R.L. Stein series mentioned in this discussion.
