Homeless people and poor folk

I am shocked to hear that some many people in the USA are homeless. Due to the recession some people in the USA have had to take a pay cut and then they have lost their house because they haven't been able to keep up the repayments. The social security system isn't able to help all that many poor people. I was surprised to hear that some people that are homeless do go out to work. When I visited the Maldives I heard that some of the local people live on less that a dollar a day. That is whilst some tourists are spending hundreds of dollars on their accommodation. I saw a lady pushing all her belongings along in a wheelbarrow. Are there any homeless people in your home country? How do you think they have got in that situation? What is there in your home country to help the poor people?

I am in the USA and it really bothers me about the homeless, and it seems more and more people are going to be. I so wish I was in a position to help someone like this. I am in a bad way myself but still have a roof over my head. I wish I could take a family in and have them contribute a little bit of money to my household and then maybe we could both make it.

I think everyone takes things for granted. It can change so fast. There are alot in our town that are either living with other families to just pay the bills or are homeless. It is so sad. It would not take alot for that to happen to us.

Well, I can tell you that I am on the very poor end of the social status. How did I get here is a lot of factors that came into play. First, I was working for may years, and then, I became disable. Now I already have a son that was on disability. So, I went from not working, to being disabled. Now, after years of struggling, we are now struggling more than ever. My son moved out and I am down to just my income. My adult boys are out of work and now living with me and just brought a newborn home yesterday. We live in a 2 bedroom house and there are 9 of us here and can hardly make the bills. We are getting the water shut off today and I can't get it on until Friday. So, how did we get here, no jobs in the area and me not being able to work. I am able to keep up with the rent. No, there are no places to go to be able to get help because they are all out of money also. The two bedroom house, we had to move here after our house burnt down in 2008. There are people in my area that live under bridges and on the streets or shelters. I am able to have one comfort and that is my internet and my computer. My boys use it to try to find a job and I use it for entertainment. We have no paid television, just the channels that we can get from our converter box. We do have electric and gas, so we are lucky. We are filling up containers now with water so we can have it until I can pay on the bill. This is our life, for now. We or I should say, I look forward to them finding jobs and moving out and things will get better, with prayer, time and hopefully jobs coming our way.

we have our own share of homeless people not because they are lazy, some are abandon, have mental illness or just very poor with no work. so they are stray people while government initiate an effort to get rid them on the street and find a shelter.

We have a lot of homeless people here, sweetie. What's the government doing to help them?? uuummm, honestly, NOTHING AT ALL. Here it is the survival of the fittest, richest and strongest. Unfortunately the government beats us all in that as they are the most corrupt in the world. They don't give a damn about anyone, but themselves. TATA.
