What must be the acceptable limit for working hours. I am not sure but I think 8 hours working hours are enough for working in a job. I think this is really good to set a limit for humans. Companies wants to get more profit and they forget the personal life of a person could be spoiled. I think there is competition but if there are strict laws then every one will need to follow.

I also think 8 should be the limit. I used to work for 8 hours before, and that was fine. Now I work for 9 hours in a row, and I think that is too much, to be honest...

Surely, 8 hours a day can be acceptable, and I can accept that arrangement too. But I would like those suggestion from people who wants 10 hours a day, and we only contribute 4 days a week as a regular hours. Still, we still have 40 hours a week work. What do you think of that?

I think that it's up to every individual as to how much paid work they should so in a day or a week. Most Western countries, however, have established that a full time job should regard a 40 hour week as the norm. Any further hours would be either paid as overtime or be according to contract and the discretion of the worker. The standards that we have in my country for permanent paid employment of an eight hour working day with at least a day and a half off every week and four weeks (pro-rata) statutory paid holiday does not seem unreasonable or excessive to me. There are many people, of course, who are not covered by this law and either have to work longer hours in two or more part-time jobs or, as self-employed or contract workers, choose to work longer or shorter hours as befits their lifestyle. I have no problem with this. What I do have a problem with is that many people still cannot earn a living wage when they are willing and able to work whereas they can have a better income by NOT working and applying for whatever social benefits they are eligible for. I have known several people who were actually better off NOT working and I could not blame them for honestly taking advantage of the benefits which the state made available to them.

I think that is better. In this way the employer will also be in the state when he could get the value of the working hours of the employees.

Well it depends on your job and career. Most jobs require about eight hours a day and five days a week if you are full time. If you are part time worker then you probably would work around four hours and the days vary. I know that nurses and doctors work more and probably have a lot of days that they work twelve hours. I also know that some doctors work twenty four to forty eight hour shifts but have sleeping breaks in between. I think that all jobs are different. I also have known of people that work six hours instead of eight.

I say no more then ten hours per shift, but it all really depends on the kind of work one is doing. I believe that people should be able to set their own hours, though this might become a mess because there will be some who say they only want to work four hours, but it will be more fair for those who do want to work more hours and who do need the money... Of course nothing like this would happen world wide.

The limit should be whatever person feels like they are able to do. If someone wants to work 50 hours a week then they should be allowed to do so. The mandatory limit that companies can impose on their employees should be no more than 40 hours per week. But employees should have the option of working over time if they feel it is necessary.

well nurses work for 12 hours and some firemen and paramedics work a 24 hour shift (but are allowed to sleep when they can) i think those hours are pretty long. the average working day here in Canada is 7.5 hours.

I think 8 hours working for a day is already enough. I don't like overtime work. It will be so exhausted for the employees and how you can expect they can have energy to work next day. We need the break. We also need some time for our family. The life should not be full of work. It will drive people crazy at the end. I love China

Eight hours I think, but it depends in your career, like here in my place some call center agents are woking for more than eight hours and some of them are on graveyard shift which i consider the worst. Its not normal I think, they might have health issues with that type of work.

i don't think this law will ever happen due to possible job shortages in certain vocations. this would require other people to work more hours.

I think that somewhere between eight and ten hours in a day is the most that a person can comfortably work. When I worked at the hospital I worked 12 hour shifts and though I only had to work three days a week, it was really more than a person could comfortably handle in a given day. I really think that the medical field should go back to having eight hour shifts instead of having 12 hour shifts because I think it would reduce the burnout rate for employees.

I think the normal 8 hours is enough :) more than 8 is already tiring. Whenever I have a 12 hour shift I get irritated easily, I do not feel like working anymore as I want to just go home and rest. My mind is off already.

I worked 8-10hours daily. I'm so used to it and I guess this would be enough for a normal employee. Working more than 10hours is not so bad, we all need to be practical and adding more work loads means adding more earnings for us. But, the most important is that you should still have time with your family. Every one deserves time to be with their family and besides they are the most common reason why we work.

Well, it depends. For the large group of people, 8 hours may be an acceptable one. Working is a kind of way to earning our liveings for most people, so no excess and not too few. They need time for themselves and families. Some people who love thier jobs would like to work more.

Yes I think their must be limit for working hours. Because mostly companies have different-2 working hours and sometimes they get worked from their employee extra hours. So I think if companies get extra works from their employee then companies should pay extra payment to their employee. And also their must be a fix working hours 10 hours or 11 hours day shift.

Eight hours is enough but less is better. Say, 6-7 hours a day. I think it will make employees happy and when the employees are happy they can be more productive. But that doesn't mean it's general. It can be applied to some but not all. Proper management is still needed. I just hope employers will shift from 8 hours a day of work to 6 or 7. Sad thing is there's still a lot of workers working long hours like 10 hours a day and they're not compensated well. That's slavery and I hate it! shadow41

If everything is divided equally into 3 main areas, sleep, work and play, 8 hours of work is the minimum as well as maximum. But in reality, we do not get an equal share of everything with work eating into every aspect of our life. Much as governments know about the plight of workers but there's only so much they can do. Like my country, we are having 5 days each, down from the 5.5 days week in the past. However this is still quite alot of days to work compared to some European countries which has 4 working days per week. With such an arrangement, chances of one working more than 8 hours daily is higher but they get more off days. At the end of it, no matter where we are, working hours remains the same.

For me to work beyond 8 hours is not a problem, just once in awhile there are days where we sometimes also less than 8 hours of work. So stay balanced on average 8 hours a day. Work requiring should be 8 hours per day for me also less flexible, because there may be a need for example for the family wrote. However, if a job requires more than 8 hours because it is its nature must be completed that day. I agree with the companies that still care about the families of employees, because we do not have time fully to the company, because employees also have families that need attention.
