Do your habits change periodically on mylot???

Since joining mylot some 4 years ago, my habits have changed. I took a conciderable amount of time off and came back and my account was still here. I was glad that I hadn't deleted my account just left it alone. When I first joined mylot my routine was to log on and try to respond to 25 to 35 discussions a day, start a few discussions a week. Report abuse when I ran across it (a lot back then). I enjoyed mylot and couldn't pull myself away at times. I started carrying around notebook to be able to jot things down for future discussions. I brought my digital camera along and snapped pictures of everything to be able to add pictures to my discussions. Now I log on most days (lots of difficulties this month with internet connection) I find that I read far more discussions than I actually respond too. Sometimes I'm just so interested to see how someone will respond to certain discussions. Other days I go to tow responding to discussions, but that usually isn't very often. I noticed though in the past few days that I have done a lot of responding more than normal. So it appears that my habit to mylot is changing again. I also started 2 discussions tonight. I think I like my new mylot habit. I enjoy interacting with my fellow mylotters. I don't think that I will set goals like I did before but I think I will make more of an effort to try and respond to more discussions instead of just reading. I think I will start a few more discussions than I normally do. The problem with to many discussions going at once is trying to keep up on responses. I enjoy reading what mylot has to say on my discussions and like to respond back to everyone as quickly as possible. So do you see changes in your behavior here at mylot? Do you like the changes that you have made? What would you like to do that you don't already do? Do you have the time to devote to mylot when starting a discussion?

Hello there, Nice of veterans such as yourself being around still despite of others that i have known who are leaving the site, or has left already the habits in the pc that i sacrifice were playing PC games and Making movie videos. in time, i realized that it was not worth of my time. despite the fact that i was good in making sims 2 movies, but i didn't earn anything from it. so, still it was worthless but worth the skill, i had made viewers both happy and upset AS for mylot. the first benefit that i got here was learned to type with out looking at your key board. secondly, the pay out. finally, friends and how I learned from them, as they share their lives to the world of mylot people. this is one social networking site that i have learned compare from other social networking sites

I guess people will always be coming and going, I get disappointed when they delete their accounts, take a break for awhile. Mylot doesn't delete for inactivity so you could leave for however long and come back. When they come back with new usernames you don't know right away. Typing is a great skill thatI'm sure many have gotten better at since joining this site, especially when your addicted here.

@ PA I don't know how I would feel if I couldn't have this username, it's the name I use everywhere. I think that's why I don't cancel my accounts, never know if I might come back and a lot of times you wouldn't be able to use the same username even if you cancelled the account the username doesn't become available again.

Letran - I have noticed that many people have said that their typing skills as well as their written communication skills (and in some cases their English) has improved a lot just by posting here. It is great that we can have fun, earn a little bit of money, and improve our skills at the same time. Beanie - I know that several people have canceled their former accounts and started over again on here. I guess that is one way to do it, but I don't think that I would want to start over again here ... besides, I really enjoy using the emoticons and I would have to give that up if I started over.

I don't really think my methods have changed too much since the first year, back then I didn't always respond back to people who responded to my discussions (didn't think it mattered.) Now, I go thru my friends notifications in my email and respond to those that interest me, and respond back, or at least TRY to, respond back to people that responded to my discussions. However, some have hit such a chord with people, I can't keep up, or think of new things to say in answer to discussions I have started. I do try, however....

I remember responding to all my responders and having people tell me I was breaking the mylot rule of thanking everyone that responded. I usually added more than a thank you for responding, but others seemed to think that this was a questions and answer site more than a discussion site. I answer discussions from my email and if I can add I do. The past few days I havve actually done quite a bit of responding for me. Some discussions though I just can contribute to as I either don't know anything about a particular subject or can't relate. The ones I can though I jump right in, sometimes in more than just my own response box. It can be difficult to respond to ones own discussion when everyone says the same thing. I think that's why I avoid responding in those discussions. I don't want to say the same thing everyone else did and then have a copy/pasted reply.

I always feel rude when I can't respond back to someone, sometimes the only thing to say is thank you for your response. I now just let it go, if i can't respond with soething then I skip it, sometimes later when I come back am able to but a sentence together other times not.

it is against the rules to just add a "thanks for responding" but it isn't to actually have things to add I, in fact, actually leave stuff off sometimes so I do have things to add!

I do more responding than starting discussions. I am on here less than I was at the start. I used to do at least 50 posts or responses a day. Now I am lucky to do 20. I answer more from my email than checking on other discussions.

I don't browse around as much as I used to, but then my email hasn't been caught up since July so that's one reason. If I do happen to brnch out it's to new users and discussions with no responses.

I'm here on myLot for about 7 months now. There's not much difference since except that it's getting harder to pull myself away, as you put it. I remember some of the things I used to do probably not so much now which you have done as well: carrying a notebook and a digital camera around... Glad you still enjoy your time here as I do.

Wow that's a long time since you came to mylot. Seems you have changed a lot and now even it seems this mylot is affecting my work schedule also. They are just left behind. Old habits die hard they say but they mentioned that it was habits only. I wish i could be able to change my bad habits right now once and for all. Cheers!

Yes,my habits have changed for the better. When I first started on mylot I pushed myself to always be here and come up with discussion ideas. Then I finally realized that it was not possible to do that and I was putting too much stress on myself. I also thought that when friends would reply to my discussions that I had to reply to each one, because it would appear rude if I didn't.Again I finally realized something else, that people were not expecting that of me.

I think that when we push to hard it can make mylot an unenjoyable place. I believe mylot to be a place to come and enjoy ones self, not to put unreasonable goals on ourselves. I always respond to my disussions though and I believe thats one reason I don't make a lot of them, so that I can always keep up with the replies.

Just turning notifications on has changed my habits. My routine used to be: Post any new discussions that were in my head Check "started" tab for responses Check "responded" tab for responses Check "friends started" tab for anything interesting Then check either "today's top", "hot" or "no responses" for anything interesting Give out some best responses Now it's go to my e-mail, sort mail alphabetically, and: Respond to my replies that have been commented on Respond to my discussions that have replies Thank people for best responses Then sort it again by date and: Go through discussions oldest to newest and reply to those that are interesting Keep an eye out for new replies and responses Then go look at "today's top", "hot" or "no responses" if I have time I have been totally derelict as far as giving out best responses...

I used to be so much better at the best response award now it seems that I don't get around to it, or I just don't feel that a single response has resolved my discussion. I think I will add that to the list of things to try and get through though, thanks for the reminder.

You must have read my mind because I was going to start with the discussions that had the fewest responses and and try to clear them up first.

I have so many pages and pages of them, I find myself going for the easy ones (ie 10 or less responses) and leaving the rest. Bad Dawn...

Well, for one thing, I do feel that I spend more time on mylot. I find that I want to spend a lot more time on mylot. I do still try and set goals for myself. That aspect hasn't really changed. But somethings have changed, such as the amount of time that I spend on mylot.

In a previous response box you said "I have 2 discussions going and have kept up pretty easy and have still responded to others and have been home schooling and cleaning house today." You sure know how to make a girl feel inferior, because I am having all I can do to just keep an eye on my little one and spend time with her while trying to respond on here. I haven't even had time to do my chores yet today. I guess that I had better get off of my bum-bum and get to work, huh? Well, in that case it seems that I will just have to catch up with you more tomorrow as you have now made me feel guilty about my inadequacies. Ummm ... now that I have gone off on a tangent, I don't even remember what discussion I was supposed to be answering.

I trully hope that you don't feel to awful, I really am not all that good, internet has been very fast to load the past few days, not having hangups when I'm posting like most of the time. Everything just feels like it's been uch easier today. Makes me want to start a couple of new discussions, that's easier for me than searching around for discussions that I can contribute too. I still can look around but don't have to search around as muh if I ave discussions going, since I can just comment back in those. I still earn and I get to try and keep a discussion going. Don't work to hard today. I try not to sweat the small stuff. Like dishes in the sink, a year from now will you remember you had left dishes in the sink versus playing with your daughter? Those are the things that we have to look at, putting things in perspective.

Now the whole world knows that we leave dishes unattended. However I bet our kids don't remember or won't remember, but they will remember that we played with them when they look back on being a kid.

Nah, I don't really feel bad, but I do have to give you a hard time every now and then ... I mean, I really haven't changed that much since I first started on here! Although, now that you mention it and it is in this discussion for all the world to see, I am sure that if I really searched for it, then I would remember that I hadn't done the dishes today ...

Back when I first joined I made payout every month, then I became inactive for a number of years. Since coming back I have received payout once, but since that isn't my main objective it really doesn't matter to me. I enjoy being here and payout is just a bonus. Welcome to mylot and I hope that your stay here is pleasant.

I feel like I'm always here, well I am, I just don't respond much. I'm trying to get back into responding more. It also helps to have reliable internet connection, it's very frustrating to try and load pages that won't load. The past few days have reflcted in my account just how active I have been. I don't think that I will have a problem reaching payout for next month though.

Wow Beanie, it really surprises me to read that you have only made payout once since you have been back, because I know how active you have been on several discussions. I guess that I am just lucky and tend to show up in the same discussions that you do, though, so that is why maybe it seems to me that you are more active on here than you actually are.

I too have had a numbeof friends leave the site, some very sad to seeleave and others not so much. I did for a while read discussions through my email but as time went on I got fewer coming in, this was because so many had left. I want to try posting a few more discussions and see how I like it. I think I can interact more, by commenting back to those that respond and try to keep the discussion going. We'll see if it doesn't work then I just go back to doing what I already do, respond to others.

Yes. I'm having a change of habits in MyLot. The first time I became a member of MyLot, do not make a discussion or respond to discussions. Approximately 6 months of me like that. Then I log in and create a discussion, in my day just responding to one or two of discussion only. And now I'm very addicted to a discussion or respond to discussions.

Yes, my habits here change rather frequently actually. I used to set certain goals like the number of posts per day and starting a couple of discussions each day. Then I stopped starting so many and tried to up my posts. Now I have about 5 friends selected and notify turned on. I try to respond to those discussions and then a few more. The other day I started a couple of topics that really had a lot of responses and it was hard to keep up with so that's all I did that day! It has gotten to where it depends largely on my mood that day!

I like to try different things, somewhat because I like to see how my earnings change and other times just for a change of pace. I like to make mylot fun for me. I like starting my own discussions because it gives me so much more opportunity for earning in that I can respond to my discussion and when I have a mylotter that likes to keep coming back I have fun and I earn more for responding back. I then don't need to spend so uch time searching for things to respond too.

Yeah, I like to start discussions because it's easier sometimes to respond to them rather than finding interesting discussions. I don't respond to everything, I like to give thoughtful answers..

When I started MyLotting, I set a goal at first. I can't remember, but I think I tried to answer 30 or so a day. I started very few discussions. Then I started discussions and answering a few less. Then I STOPPED! I just got busy with other things. Now, I've started answering a few a day...no discussions. But I have a feeling I'll be answering a few more each day...I guess I just missed MyLotting and the friends I've met. See you around!

Hi beanie, My habits on mylot haven't changed much since I joined. I come in here, checked whether I have got any new responses on my started discussions, answer them all, then check on those I have responded, answer if necessary. Next I look at topics started by friends and try to respond to them if I can. I would only start topics as and when I have something to say or ask. Time depends on whether I have internet connection or not but I would usually "disappear" during the weekends because I would be more occupied at home.

I don't spend as much time on here during the weekend as I do during the week, which makes for a lot of new discussions to go through on Monday. I do pretty much the same thing usually will check new responses to my discussions, then any responses I ave received to ones I left then friends discussions through my email. I have had major internet issues for the entire month of September, it appears to have been fixed this past week and my wireless is also back up and running.

No wonder I didn't see you often this month... hope your computer works fine from now on. I usually have a lot to catch up on Mondays too as many friends would start lots of topics over the weekends.
