She Got Her Shares Back

XX was used to be a happy and prosperous community back in the 70’s as my mother told me. It is not the way it looks today! There was a permanent settlement before, but it was ruined by the evil mind of people!
The place is mountainous. There are several overlooking places below. I even had experienced living there before when I was young! The year was in the early 90’s. Of course, farming was the main source of living of most people. There were few stores. There were few events during Sundays like volleyballs. Children used to play hide and seek, and I was one of those!
Unfortunately, people must move in the plain to save their lives. Massacres were everywhere! I can still remember when my classmate in the first grader lost his life including his parents and siblings…that was terrific even in my very young mind!
Our home was in the valley of my grandfather’s land. There was a time that we have to sleep underground just to make sure we were safe! My uncle had to move his wife and child under his coffee plantations away from his house several nights. The chaos was not over!
My parents decided to move. Our neighbors decided to move except for very few that were brave enough to stay! Our small farm was temporarily abandoned! Yet, my parents had no choice but to get back because that was our main source of living!
Few years passed, it seemed that peace took over the place! But XX was never be the same. I could not see as many houses and people as before!
They were permanently moving including the distant settlements. I could hear only the sounds of birds. I had a looked at the valley where my big sister and her friends would enjoy their volleyball tournament, the place where I and my friends used to play—it is no more but bushes and trees!
I never expected that time would come XX would just completely healed by time and would get the shares she deserves! I am telling this because I am one of those dreamers who had a very nice dream about those mountains and fellows I have back there! Even I am living here in the city today, but I have always dream to see my homeland looks any better!
How about you there? Have you tried to look back to the place where you grew up? see any changes? What change?

It is strange that we think back how places looked in the past.
People love to destroy their surroundings.
I call that idiocy.
I haven't seen the place i grew up as i am really not that interested.
As i heard that it really looks disgraceful.
I am glad to hear that nature can heal herself like that.
Hope you will have happy days there again.
TATA.

Where I grew up, the houses are older, the trees are bigger, the vacant lots are all built upon, but not much else has changed.
Is this a real story?

hi prime I was born and raised on a lovely farm in south Dakota
and went to school in Newell a small town with 1300 friends, one old maid and her dog, according to the sign outside Newell. Now I am told there are only 600 residents there, a lot of the younger people moved to other much larger cities in our state. I have not been back in fifty years
because much as I wanted to go back that takes money to travel from Califorina to South Dakota. I am almost afraid to go back if I did'have the money as so many of my old friends are now gone.

my g I am 84 myself. lol lol
